Well, I'm a Canadian, so, it doesn't really phase me all too much. I know the United States is an ally, but it's hard to feel sympathetic for people you don't know, especially when they don't even live in the same country as you.

Nonetheless, I still think that attacking civilians was completely disgusting and uncalled for.

... Also, it's my dad's birthday. It's kind of annoying to think of the event on what's supposed to be a happy day.

I am surprised at the rising malignancy between Europe and the US.

An article claimes that 2/3 of US citiziens stated that they think that the USA's foreign policy also includes what's good for its subjects, but only 38 % of Germans and 25 % of Brits reciprocated that fact. (Facts taken from memory).

The comments page of that article was immediately flooded with things such as "In economics, the loser always hates the winner." and "You don't like us... Who cares ?" (Once again taken from memory). Whilst this is the internet and people always treat it like their personal d*ck extension, this does reflect the opinion of the Guy From The Street.

I wonder how it got that far and how that is solvable. I, personally, do not wish to mature and raise children in a Cold War-like environment.

I can understand some of the criticism agianst American and some of its policies, such as the "War on Terror" controversity and the oil and environmental things, but I don't neccesarily think all americans are idiots and that we can't change things. I did have a more "f*ck you"-like opinion some time in the past, but can happily say that I left that behind me.

So, your opinion on the subject ? I figure this fits into 9/11 because of the international consequences.

On a note to the original subject, I was just petrified at what suffering people are willing to elect to get what they want, completely ignoring that those who suffered will likely never even consider their point then, though argumentation and civil behavior seems to be beyond such... humans.

Well, I hold quite some pride for my home country, the USA, and I do agree with Dragus, about how our actions have partly let the terrorists have accomplished a deadly attack. I really would rather not think about it too much.

I still remember exactly what I was doing when it happened... I was doing a wordsearch for Social Studies and my class got called into the Band Room because it had a TV.

Dragus already said everything I could say on the issue, however.

Oh, I was in sixth grade. I didn't see the news or anything that morning, but our teacher, Mr. Hoskins, told the class what happened. Thinking about it makes me really sad... I mean, the attack. When I was told, it didn't quite immediately register in full impact at the time.

Excuse me. I have a perfectly good reason to not get over this.

My cousin is dead because of the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers. My family always sends a few prayers and lights a few candles for him every year on this day. So don't tell me to get over it.

Sure... it was seven damned years ago... but you don't know what it feels like to lose a family member in a terrorist attack. It feels depressing, empty and just damn sad.

But, as a nation, the majority of us accepted those lies and went into the Middle East with our souls full of hate and our eyes burning with pain.

And we had every right to go into the Middle East filled with hate and wanting to reek revenge on the people responsible.

The problem is, we went to the wrong portions of the Middle East, as well- and those wrong portions ended up being the primary concern over the last eight years. You see, people often confuse the "Iraq War" with the broader "War on Terror." The "War on Terror" refers to the efforts made to stop extremist organizations in the Middle East from causing more havoc, whereas the Iraq War was completely unrelated (Although the Bush Administration tried to make it look related.)

What I liked about Bush when he first came into office was that he seemed as though he would keep up a strong national defense, and immediately after 9/11, he seemed eager and willing to go into the Middle East and kick the asses of those responsible for that event. Instead, it turned out he just wanted to start a war in the wrong place (Iraq), fueled by his own grudge against Saddam.

I don't care who the next President is, as long as he isn't a wimp when it comes to keeping a strong, well-regulated national defense- so that we don't get another 9/11.

Sure it's sad in all that a bunch of people died 7 years from this day but do we really need to make it a *crag* holiday? Wouldn't it be easier to have like a memorial service on TV instead of forcing us all to mourn over a terrorist attack? Thats pretty much letting the terrorists know that they succeeded in causing pain to the country,
but thats just me.

I agree. I don't really care. people take it way too far, but not as bad as what they say about katrina it wasn't even that bad.
WHY WONT PEOPLE GET OVER IT ALREADY?!!?!?!!!??? 9/11 was twice as bad but nobody cares. [insert mocking voice here]"katrina this, and katrina that"........GET OVER IT.

The thing is, we can't forget. 9/11 woke many Americans up to the "real world," and showed that the US can't let its guard down. The USA needs to constantly remain skeptical of any nation that isn't an ally, and it needs to maintain a strong, well-regulated nation defense, if we want to prevent future 9/11s from happening.

So, although we shouldn't dwell on the tragedy, we should always keep it as a reminder of what could happen if the US becomes weak in terms of protection/defense.

I'm not suggesting immediate war, however- but to be prepared in case it is necessary. There's a difference between a strong "defense" and a strong "offense."

That's about what I said, Lord Crump. I agree, and am sickened that the idiots in charge of our country for the last eight years tried to affiliate Iraq with September eleventh.

I remember the day I saw the Baghdad bombing footage on the news, I asked my father:

"Dad, I thought Afghanistan was where they said the people who hit the buildings were."

He responded "They are. We're invading Iraq too."

"Why?"

He replied "I don't know. But people probably aren't going to care, because they'll blame everyone in the middle east for September eleventh."
