Spamboard idea supported. It would get all the [M] topics out of OT, give members a place to vent the desire to be random, and if there was a forum where spam was allowed, people would probably spam less in other forums, and there would be fewer striked members.

UNSUPPORTED.

The last thing we need is spam.

Why the hell is spam even fun to begin with?! Just deal with a spam-free environment. Sounds like a great deal to me.

I'm guessing nobody who's against it was here when the Dump was alive. It works surprisingly well, and if spamboards killed sites, this one would be looooong dead.

That's exactly the answer, CB. If we have a spamboard, we can actually have members ignore the spam and stop being so "ZOMGBBQ DIGIBUTTER IS DYIIIING" and "THIS PLACE IS TOO SPAMMY I'M LEAVING BAWWWW" and shit. Off-Topic really isn't working at all. The Court is more active than Miyamojo, Digital Butterflies, Star Carnival, and Contests & Tournaments combined. I'm not exaggerating. Nobody knows what's spam and what's not. There are obvious extreme examples, but there are so many topics and posts that can easily be considered spam from one point of view and not spam from another. Off-Topic's status on spammyness is so far from set in stone, it's written on paper with a barely sharpened pencil right next to a fire. Very hard to find and read, and easily lost.

A spamboard could actually solve all that. With our far stricter systems of dealing with spam outside the spamboard, [M]-ness, and flame, it could happen with far less effort than it takes to maintain OT. The earlier days of The Dump are oftentimes said to be the greatest moments in all of Digibutter. The Dump was ruined by [M]-ness, flooding(?), and flame, and since we had no system aside from "ben ben ben" and possible Jail time, the only thing to really do was destroy it.

You don't seem to understand.

The only rule to not be enforced would be the spam rule.
Flaming? Strike.
Porn? Strike.
Spam? No strike.

Simple as that.

...but I DO understand...
...but what I'm saying is that to just let all Spam off the hook in one fourm, is to say, oh you can flame each other as much as you want in "Forum name here"...
...to just let one offense of in a singular forum is to let ANY offense of in a singlre forum, I'm not saying that anythign will be allowed, but its to say, oh we'll let you murder, but only in Chicago...ect...

I don't see where that's being said. Flaming's not allowed all over the forum.

...Lord Bob, Im not saying thats what the Spamboard is going to do, but im using it as an example...
...Flaming is illegal you know just as much as Spam is...
...all I'm saying is that your not releaving the "need" to spam, but your making a Forum area where something which is illegal everywhere else ISNT...
...this is what I mean (from above) oh we'll let you murder, but only in Chicago...ect...

NEVER.

Why? Anyone Remember the dump? That was the spam board. What did we have to do? Get rid of it. Why? It's the only place anyone wanted to post in.

EDIT:

Because of flaming, [M], and possibly flooding. If we make it clear that [M], Flooding(?), and flaming are not allowed at all, and strike every last bit of it, then we won't have The Dump's old problem. And we won't have our current problem of having no idea what's spam and what's not.

Except, you know, we did this.

And it didn't work.

So let's not do it again.

Of course, Popple, when we first had the Dump, there were no mods. When a true "team" was assembled, they weren't as organized, or held a clear view of how to deal with the problems on the site. And so, the problems in the Dump flourished- but now, the site is old enough, the mods are good enough, and what counts as "over-the-line" is clear enough to handle something like this.

Imaginationland would be prosperous, and only make the community generally happier- as it woudn't effect those who don't want to visit it at all.
