No, you already had 'happen' in the past tense. That was your verb - 'happen' - and you had that in the past tense. What did you 'happen' to do? You happened to notice. 'Notice' would be proper in the past tense if you took out 'happened', and just had, 'you noticed' - so... yeah... o_o
