This. Merely putting an [M] in your topic subject does not explain what that [M] means. There are many different kinds of "mature" content. So one has to open up the topic and hopefully get some kind of explanation or warning before seeing the mature content.
With embedded images, this is currently not possible. The image is visible as soon as the page appears, no warning. With YouTube videos, one has to click play first... basically confirming that they are agreeing to view a video with mature content (as "mature" as you can get on YouTube).
Linking to the image (not using img tags) would give you a chance to show a warning, which then gives the viewer a choice to view it or not.
In My Humble Opinion, if you make a post in a way that users have the opportunity to make an informed decision about if they want to see the mature content or not, then the post should not be punished. (and no, you can not link to porn, even if you give a warning) |

Your standards are not the same as everyone else's. We must cater to the lowest common denominator. A very large majority of the population views that little word to be very vulgar and shocking and does not expect to see it on a site that could be viewed as targeted towards children. This site is open to teenagers as young as 13, so we must censor accordingly.
If you do not like that, then go somewhere else where it is not censored. Somewhere with similar ideals about censorship. Do not bypass the censor here. |
