That works in everything, really.

Shift also causes straight lines. It's no as free in Photo Shop as most other programs though. Photo Shop locks it to a multiple 90 degrees, most others to 45.

Actually, aside from mountains and such, they are perfect spheres. Gravity causes this to happen.

Not quite. The rotation of the Earth causes the equators to bulge out just slightly. The same goes for any planet.
