Speed determines who goes first. (Mario has a higher speen than Luigi, so he goes before Luigi does) Special Attack and Defense determine how much your attack is when you do an elemental attack (I think) and how much you stand up against elemental attacks (I think again).

oh so some attacks are "elemental" and some are just regular. And does anything limit how many times you can use a move?
For example, if i had a fire attack and I used it against your water pokemon, what keeps me from using that over and over? Why would you ever use your normal attack? |

I fixed your grammar problems. Special attack figures how much damage your special attacks do, and defense figures how much less damage a physical attack does against you. |

There is a thing called PP, and each move has a limited amount of PP, even normal attacks. When that move runs out of PP, you can't use that move anymore.
Ex. Takle = 10/10 PP.
Pikachu used tackle
Takle = 9/10 PP |

Yeah, I was using an example. Plus, I'm sure if this does get up and running, all the PP for the moves will be different from the games. |

That's ok.
It'd be nice if there was a forum where we could run into "wild" pokemon....like at random as you browse the different areas.....but then again....that would be annoying and may cause problems. |

Whoever has the higher speed goes first, unless the slower one uses a move like Quick Attack. If both people use Quick Attack, highest speed goes first.
Special is technically 2 in 1:
Special attack: Determines damage of non-physical moves(Ember, Razor Leaf)
Special defense: Damage taken from non-physical moves. |

Actually, special was combined only in red, blue, and yellow. Maybe gold and silver. |

So I assume more powerful moves have less PP. What if you run out of PP for all moves? Is that possible? |

Yes. Your pokemon ends up using a move called struggle. No pp required, but it does damage to the user. PP is restored with an ether, max ether, elixer, max elixer, or leppa berry. |

Lemme add to that:
Stuggle barely damages the opponent. |
