I have to agree. This will only lead to confusion and then anger.

For a start, people already use them in posts and sigs in the Context of "You are an idiot." Or *stabs you*
There are people who know that it's meant sarcastic, but still it's an insult. And I personally, even if I know that its sarcasm, think you shouldn't insult people, not e en for fun or sarcasm. An insult means that you do not respect a person, ans as far as I am concerned, I think that the Digibutter members do respect each other.

First, the tag is useless. We could just write "Above poster", "you" or "all of you". The only point in it is the joke that it looks as if you were meant or predicted that you would look / post. Which will get really annoying. At least they are not useable in topic titles. else this would be a pretty pissed situation now.

Also, the hover over effect isn't enough. I personally would like it if I do not have to point at my name at every single occasion it shows up, just to know if really I was meant, if people really think that I will like to look at that, that I would support this, etc. etc.

It's like nametags all over again. I think most features that do something with names as a text string create only confusion and anger.

Please, Francis... I beg of you, please delete this tag.

I'm going to have to concur with the above statement. Sorry guys, but I'm personally not too thrilled with the way in which this new tag is being used - which is really the inexorable fate of a LOT of things here on Digibutter, or indeed, the Internets as a whole. As I believe I've said before, consideration of context is important if we wish to remain as a community that properly respects ourselves, and each other. Consider that not everyone will take such remarks in the sarcastic context that you present them, even with the 'hover feature.' Some people are more sensitive than others... and though I think it's perfectly okay to joke around and have some fun here on the site, I also believe that this is a slippery and dangerous slope we're treading on.
