I don't like the idea. Not because they copied the Wiimote, because it's unoriginal.
That's just my opinion though. :/ |

That's like saying you don't like the 360 controller because it resembles a Playstation controller. >_>'
We'll just have to wait and see what happens. |

We'll just have to wait and see what happens. | Well, the whole joypad idea was old by them. The Motion Sensor Control is a new idea. |

Looking through some of the comments, some people have said that Nintendo copied some product called "Xavix." M'aiq did a bit of research, the Xavix games seem a bit...familiar. |

This is stupid it's exactly the same but 1/2 things different, nintendo shouldn't allow the wii's uniqueness get out onto other consoles, that is what is selling it. |

You go by some flawed logic... You are honestly better off yelling at everybody for copying Atari with making videogames. After all, it made them unique.
If it sells well, you can bet your ass that other companies will use similar features. Rembember the first line of HDTV's? Guess how many companies make those now? High Definition was revolutionary, and look what happened. DVD players? Blu-ray? |

If it doesn't come with the console, then it is just a gimmick that no one will buy, and no games will use. (examples: SNES Mouse, all light guns, EyeToy, GameBoy Camera, GBA-Gamecube adapter, Gamecube broadband adapter, Gamecube microphone, bongos, PS3 dualshock). The only things to succeed have been the N64 RAM Expansion, PS2 multitap, and maybe the Wii-Fit Board.
The reason why the Wii Remote succeeded is because Nintendo put everything they had behind it, forcing developers to use it. If the Wii came with just a standard gamepad and Wii Sports sold sperately bundled with a Wii Remote, then the Wii would never have gotten off the ground. |

I don't think it succeeded, I hate that thing. Nintendo keeps shoe-horning it onto platformers and adventure games instead of actually trying new things. I want the rebirth of Adventure games damnit, and think of how useful it would be in a action based RPG like a non-platformer Paper Mario title. Add that shit to Earthbound or something. That would be bad ass.
The only success I will ever admit it had is MP3, and they still haven't announced another *crag* FPS. |

M'aiq agrees with Popple here. Most of the Wii's games have just tacked on wiimote-funtionality by using it for menus or an on-screen crosshair. Heck, the only 1st party game that M'aiq felt did a great job of using the wiimote's features was Metroid Prime 3. Zelda, SPM, SMG, Brawl? They are honestly better WITHOUT the motion-controls.
Well, the aiming system in Zelda is alright, but it would still be easily done with a controller. |

The Wii is the number one selling console, so industry wise, it succeeded. It would not have without the bundled Wii Remote. My point is that the Wii Remote defined the console from the very beginning, which no after-thought peripheral can do, and never will do. Microsoft and Sony can add all kinds of dohickies (yes, I said dohicky), but the only way for them to succeed is to be in the box at the very beginning. |
