I still remember when it happened. I was 8 years old and I was home because I was sick (not to sick, sick enough to make an excuse Smile ) Anyways, I was just walking arround the house and then I turned on the TV (because I was bored obviously) and then I saw the Tower on fire. (And all that smoke and stuff) So then I told my Mom and we were watching it like for 1 hour and saw the second plane hit. Oh, and my bro was in like 6th grade at the time, and he was reading something about the Twin Towers in school, and when he came home he found out they were gone. Sad But I really don't care too much about it now, It was 7 years ago, we gotta get over it now.

Again, there is nothing to "Get over". The incident is nothing more than a reason to be proud to continue to hold our pride and never falter in the face of our enemies' efforts. We also show our respect for those who died, but that hardly qualifies as something one "gets over".

I agree that it is irritating when people mourn and degrade our nation rather than emphasize holding pride and respect regarding the day.

I mean no disrespect; September 11, 2001 was horrible day in US history, and indeed a huge slap in the face to the western world.

However, the constant use of 9/11 as a fear-mongering tool and an excuse to create conflict and the media's tendency to shove the date down our throats constantly as left me so apathetic about the day that I just want everybody to forget about it.

Sure, people died and all, but... I guess I have no right to complain, but it just gets annoying when everyone gets so depressed about this day. In fact, I'm going to be the only happy person in school today. xD;
I'm not depressed. In fact, I'm still happy, it's just that it was a very bad day for us, and it's sad.

I have to agree with everyone who's sick of it being whored around by the media. Some older kids at my school ACTUALLY got my kid brother to watch a documentary on it because 'you can see the *censored*'s blow up the building' or some stuff like that. Of course his somewhat (I'm talking real-world disasters, he's addicted to Resident Evil like you wouldn't believe) naive mind was rather freaked out, and now he's acting all moody and mad...

The media's views have messed with him quite a bit in the past (he's misused words like faggot and there was one EXTREMELY mortifying incident where he made a World War II remark at a Japanese restaurant), so I'm a little worried.

I'm sorry to say this, but that was really uncalled for. You may not know those people that died, but people are still people like you and me. They died, its still really sad. Especially the way they died.
What if someone you know here died? What would you do? Would you not care? What if people at your school died? Would you care a little? What if a plane crashes into your house?
Death is still death. This is a tragedy that should be remembered due to the number of deaths. Thats why people still remember to this date.
And those people your referring to may be depressed for a good reason. The people that died during 9/11 could have been close to those people. People have the right to be depressed. What if someone you loved died on that date? Would you still be sad? I guess so. Think about the others who lost so many things on that date.
I'm sorry about this little rant but you got me off there when you said we don't have the right to complain. Do I have the right to complain? Yes, because on that day, 9/11, I was very sad. I lost a lot of things on that day, and I still remember. And yesterday on 9/11/08, I am still sad to this date.
Is it annoying that I am depressed on every 9/11 day?

VTech shooting, Columbia shooting, all those other tragedy. People still remember them for a good reason.

We were meant to express our opinions in this topic.

Yes, it is all death. But, honestly, death is death. If a person dies, regardless if I knew it or not, I'd be sad for the first few days. Not the first few years.

As I said, I don't really mind 9/11, nor do I care about it, or any other "tragedy," for that matter.
