What the *crag*.
I know we had mods because everyone *crag* hated me because I striked a bunch of people in the dump and everyone said the dump had no rules.
Face the facts, even if you set up rules they won't stay in place.
No matter how hard you try, the members will always make the rules.
That is just how it works. |

rules of spamboard
1. no prons 2. spamboard is not serious business so no drama and no (serious) flame/hate 3. if your the type who has to take everything seriously than ignore the spamboard
and that's it. A spamboard will only work if it is considered to be the "laid back" part of the forum
Other forums have been able to have an almost anything goes board and it has worked out fine. I have faith in the report/court system Francis has come up with to be able to handle somthing like this and I think it is an excellent idea that will help members who need a place like this
I strongly support such an idea and think it will work but it is ultimately up to Francis as he has shown many times in the past that he knows what is best for this site more than anyone else
I doubt people were complaining because you were striking them for posting hentai, Popple, and if that was what they are doing then they have no right to complain
but pretty much anything else should be fair game in a spam board

Anyone remember RPOT's introduction? The rest of the forum was ignored for a long time, until the Role-Playing sect settled down. The rest of the people went back to the other forums.
Anyone remember The Dump? 80% of the populous only posted there. Unlike RPOT, this continued for most of The Dump's lifespan. The Dump was removed to bring life to the other forums, which people seemed to forgot existed.
Making a spamboard will murder the site just like The Dump did. Why? Because we're remaking The Dump. It will be removed, and people will complain. It'll be an endless *crag* cycle. |

how about not removing it and telling the people who don't like it not to go in there?
spam can't offend you if you never see it you know...
its only natural that a new forum would get attention, eventually it becomes ordinary just like any other board. Its also only natural for certain members to stick to certain boards. I for example am in RPOT constantly but I never post in offtopic. I'm sure you have your own tendencies
this is the only forum I know of that doesn't have a designated spam area and quite honestly I don't see how one would 'murder the site' unless by 'murdering the site' you mean 'a few people getting all angry because some members only post in spam'
which would basically be the same thing as what we have now with RPOT so this must mean we're already dead |

As evidenced by some of the responses, many people wouldn't like to visit a spamboard. This means that, now, it wouldn't kill the site, as people aren't required to visit it.
You see, back when the Dump was around, we were a very small community- now, the community is large and diverse enough to allow for a small group of people to post in a spamboard, and others to visit from time to time.
The early Dump only proved that spamboards don't quite work on very, very small, beginning sites. Although still small, digibutter is still large enough to hold one without killing the site. |

What part of the members make the rules do you not uinderstand?
I mean look at the beginning of Digibutter compared to today.
Before this site was fairly clean, now everyone talks about what game character they want to *crag*.
Francis wants this to be a lenient forum, and I think we all should accept that as a good thing.
The fact is though that if you want to have a lenient forum you also must accept that the administration will never be fully in charge of the rule set.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, the unseen democracy of the Digibutter populous is always in session, and always creating a new norm of which we must go along with or fall behind of and be obliterated. |

Making a spamboard will murder the site just like The Dump did. Why? Because we're remaking The Dump. It will be removed, and people will complain. It'll be an endless *crag* cycle. | I was around back in the days of The Dump, and I ignored it for a long time and was perfectly fine with the activity of the site. I hardly saw any spam outside The Dump and even then it was from guys like LB and Legendary Machine.
And The Spamboard won't get as much activity as The Dump. (Well, we have more members now and thus more activity, but I mean compared to the rest of the site). The Dump was both the "casual" board and the "spam" board. We have Off-Topic, the Cbox, RPOT, and a bit of digiblogger for the casual side, and the Spamboard for the...well, spam. A lot of The Dump was casual material, this way only spam shows up in our spamboard, no casual topics ruined by spammy replies and pushed to the bottom by spam topics. The Spamboard gets spam, Off-Topic (and some other places) get casual stuff. Spamboard will obviously be active, but not as much as any of you guys think.
Also, don't throw around a random made-up statistic and think it makes you look smart. Nobody ONLY posted in The Dump, they just spent a lot of their posts there. Unless somebody's Post Count is 0, they've posted outside of the Dump. And I don't think we have any members with 0 posts that have been on the site for more than a week. |

You know I see no reason not to have one, if we keep Off Topic along with it I think it'll work out fine. Supported. |

I must say that I agree with this statement
but I also don't understand how this fact of forum life is in any way a bad thing
You seem to pride yourself on being a realist so I ask for an honest reponse to this question:
do you believe that it will be at all difficult for the staff to enforce a "no prons" rule in a forum board?
I don't know why I have to keep having to repeat myself. A spamboard is the laid back part of the forum. Meaning the only rules that need to be enforced there are the BIG ones. No porn, no malware, that sort of stuff which I never saw anyone on this site try to pull
and besides we have our fancy new court system which allows all potential violations to be found, discussed by everyone, and the decision on what to do about it is ultimately decided by Francis
Digibutter wants a spamboard and it is now very capable of handling one
Our report system means that you wouldn't even have to go there at all if you didn't like it. |

The mods can't enforce shit.
Even if they say no pron that doesn't mean someone can't post it.
How many shocker images have been posted on Digi now?
I ask you. |

well you sorta got me there
I've never seen one and would quite honestly be shocked if anyone here tried to post one
then again you wouldn't have posted that if it never happened
but if some are posted in the spamboard I'm sure the mods would be able to handle it before too many people see
and the benfits of a spamboard outway the risks
look at offtopic! Everyone is confused over what type of posts are supposed to go there
if a spam board is added people will clearly know what to post where and you won't see as much spam where people don't want it because the spammers will have a place to go where everyone likes spam and does spam |

Look, I'm not here to stop anyone from making the Digi they want.
If you want to burn this place down, I'm not going to stop you.
But don't *crag* act like I didn't warn you when it happens.
And that's all I have to say on that. |

Well, it would be a good place to vent off random spam. Supported, but I think we should have a 3-5 page limit for the forum, as to prevent too much bandwith-killing. Also, a post limit. Make it high enough so no one will complain, but low enough so members will have to move to the other forums. |
