You can go into a random persons house, examine all their belongings, and leave, and the person inside will not care, or even act like they saw you.

Well, it still applies to every other single Zelda house (unless I'm forgetting something).

If you actually manage to steal from a shop that isn't ran by a weakling parrot, all the people in the world will learn about it. Instantly.

And the Shop owner somehow knows it's you, and has a supremely ownage spell that could kill the last boss in one hit.

Why not make the *crag* shopkeeper the hero of the game?

The only reason the gatekeeper is there is so you don't advance through the game to fast(See: Goombella's tattle).
