Yes, I'm writing a story about an inanimate object.

Disclaimer: If anybody gets the impression that I disapprove of the use of name tags, I would like to point out that this is not the case. I simply don't personally need a name change, but other members are free to do as they wish.

Nametags.

Almost a year ago, they were the best selling item in the Digibutter market. People were free to become whoever they wanted, changing their appearance or personality at will. It was a time of peace and happiness.

It was not to last.

Addicted to nametags like some people are to drugs, members began to change almost every hour - nobody knew who was who anymore. The nametags fed on the energy of these changes, slowly forming a consciousness from all of the discarded personalities and furthering the spread of the nametags. Great members we turned to unrecognisable figures within days, the decay of nametags spreading uncontrollably.

In a last ditch effort, the great nerr Francis sealed away the nametags, binding them to a chamber far beneath his fortress. For a while, peace was restored. Unfortunately, all members were trapped in their new forms, unable to change back.

A few months ago, the one named Divo summoned the void, and in the destruction of Digibutter, the seal guarding the nametags began to crack. Some members were able to change again, restored to their previous forms. In the final fight between the forces of good and evil, Francis was able to banish Divo and restore the seal guarding the nametags.

It is the present day. Francis believes he has found a way to control the power of the nametags, and is about to release the seal holding them. Little does he know he is about to cause one of the darkest and most chaotic periods of Digibutter history...

Chapter 1 - What's in a name? wrote:
Gold Prognosticus stared doubtfully at the fourteen variants of Lord Crump. "This place is starting to look like that level in Paper Mario," he thought out loud. "The one with all the mirrors and clones."

The fourteen Crumps grinned and transformed into fourteen Francis. "Alright, this is just getting ridiculous," he said to the members. "Cut it out you guys." With a frown, the members returned to their normal forms and wandered off.

Gold Prognosticus thought back to last week - Francis re-released the nametags to the delight of Digibutter's members, and within days a new fad had sprung up - mass impersonating popular members. Personally, Gold Prognosticus wasn't desperate to buy one of the fast-selling items - he didn't particularly wan't a name change. He liked who he was and wanted to stay that way. But, every member has his or her own opinion and Gold Prognosticus resolved not to pester other members over the usage of the nametags. With a shrug, he wandered off to Your Creations to go see how Geno's digimovie was going on...

I believe I only changed my name once, and that's only because, at the time, there 6 or 7 Dimentio's, and I don't like being part of a crowd. Therefor, I changed it to who I am now. I think it was the right thing to do. Don't you?

I wasn't trying to imply that name changes are wrong - all I said was that I don't particularly need or want a namechange, but other members can make their own desicion.

I never said you did. And even if you had, it is within your right to think so. Don't let anyone ever tel you different.

I just felt like telling everyone that. I actually, when I first joined, was compared to CD in terms of role-playing ability as Dimentio.
