We all have them. Even if you're 80, you have parents. Dead parents, but parents nevertheless.
We all have problems with our parents too, because social conflicts occur among people who have known eachother for 18 years of their life (or however many it is for you.)
I have two main problems with my family. The first one being that well... they're bigots. Racist, selfish, religious bigots... and I'm not any of those. Well, perhaps a bit selfish, but that's just human... right?
The second is that I don't fit in. My family undoubtedly wants me to be a nice, strong, religious manly man that works every day of his life, finds himself a nice wife and lands a job and starts a family right out of college... but I can't be the person they want me to be, and so half the time I'm just pretending. I have to avoid them when talks of religion come up, and when anything involving homosexuality or other races comes up, I prefer to leave the room before my dad starts insulting "those damn mexicans."
I'm not saying I have it worse off than a poor orphan kid with no family and no friends, but I wouldn't complain if it got a little better, you know?
I'm not exactly being an emo, angsty teen here. I'm complaining, yeah, but this isn't emo crap. It's not me complaining that mommy and daddy sent me to my room because I didn't get to play my nintendo sixty four.
But ultimately, someone here is going to want to flame someone else for one reason or another, and I'd prefer it if you wouldn't. |
