I was looking around for a Wiimote online, and I stumbled upon an Xbox "Wii Mote" (Darwin). It can be seen in action here in three games so far: http://www.motusgames.com/page_games.html.

I'm not sure if Xbox will make this an official accessory, but if this becomes quite popular, then I'm sure that they will.

That's not very original of them. Why can't they make their own ideas instead of basing them on Nintendos?

This is the cost of innovation. Once you pioneer a great idea, everyone else will use it.

It is different from a Wii Remote. It claims to be using some kind of spacial sensors that can know exactly where the device is (like GPS). I don't think it has an IR camera in it, so it would not point at the screen to move things around.

So, if it knows the position in the room (you probably have to put sensors around you), and it knows the orientation of the remote (using gyroscopes like the Wii Remote does), then you can have one-to-one movement (not really possible with Wii Remote).

But anyways, I doubt this will go anywhere because it will be a 3rd party peripheral.

Again, what does Microsoft have to do with this? I'm sure they have better things to do than to babysit the third-party developers.

I thought Steve Ballmer was the CEO. =o

Anyway, yeah, this isn't Microsoft that's stealing Nintendo's ideas.
