Okay, I can't reveal my sources right now, but rest assured that they're extremely reliable. They've known about a good amount of Nintendo game announcements in the past before they were revealed to the public, and I have no reason to disbelieve them.
Metroid Prime Soccer is the next of Nintendo's efforts to expand the Metroid franchise, seen previously with Metroid Prime Pinball and Metroid Prime Hunters.
*Soccer ball replaced with Morph Ball
*Supports Balance Board, but it isn't required
*Games take place on a variety of locales from the Metroid series, including 3D-rendered areas of Zebes, SR388, and the B.S.L.
*Taking a cue from Super Mario Strikers, players choose one team captain and the rest of the team is made up of generic enemies
*Players can equip weapons to be used against their competition prior to the match's start; each team captain also has a special ability that can only be used once per game
*Known team captains include Samus, Ridley, Dark Samus, and Sylux
*Known team players include Space Pirate, Chozo, Luminoth, and Etecoons (the bear-like creatures that teach you to wall-jump in Super Metroid, for those of you who don't know)
*Known fields are Brinstar, Phendrana Drifts, and Tourian
*Tourian is particularly interesting; the nets are replaced by Zebetites, which must be worn down before a goal can be scored. Mother Brain watches from the background
*Intended to appeal to both Metroid fans and casual gamers alike
*Nintendo aims for the game to have an "E" rating
*Release sometime in 2009; possible connectivity with DS Metroid (my source wasn't clear on whether this referred to Metroid Prime Hunters or a future Metroid title)
*Graphics style is apparently a slightly more cartoony version of the Metroid Prime games
*Should be revealed sometime during E3

It hasn't even been a year since Mario Strikers Charged was released. Nintendo doesn't make games that directly compete with themselves.
I would say that a Wii Metriod Pinball is more likely due to Nintendo's love of pinball games and all the 3rd party Wii pinball games out there. The market is there apparently. |
