Metal Gear Online has seperate accounts from PlayStation Network, and since people play it here it would be a good idea to add it to the accounts section.

OMG, I didn't think it was possible, but this is worse than friend-codes!

They are requiring me to create TWO new username/passwords... one Konami ID and one Game ID. They want all my personal information like name, zip code, date of birth, my mother's maiden name. The two logins must be different and have different formatting requirements. The Konami ID can not contain symbols. The Game ID password can only be numbers. The zip code can contain letters?

And there is the fact that it is all done over a non-console friendly registration page that is known to go down under heavy load. And all of this came AFTER downloading and installing TWO game updates.

WTF!?I JUST WANT TO PLAY MGS ONLINE!

I can't belive Sony let them get away with this. Their apparent flagship title is not just ignoring the Playstation Network, but it is also making it a horrible user experience.

EDIT: Oh wait, after you register a Konami ID and a Konami Game ID and start the game, then you have to register ANOTHER ID for your player name. At least this one doesnt need a password. Rolling Eyes

Now you know my pain, Francis.

In fact, they kept telling me there was an issue with my username even though I did everything right. Turns out it was an issue with my password, not my name and it didn't tell me that.

... is that a yes or no for MGO Character Names in Accounts?

Yeah I added it.
Note that this is for your character's name, not your Game ID or Konami ID.
