I used to go on a site for twisted metal head on that included one of these. The board was only lightly moderated and pretty much prevented conflict outside of that forum. I believe this would be good for the health of digibutter. If it doesn't happen we may end up having to ban all of OT due to drama and flamewars. I'm not promoting flaming. I'm just saying if we quarantine it then it won't be a problem. |

It'd be pointless and I would end up making many people cry. Not supported. |

No. You should have no 'need' to flame in the first place. And if you do, go yell at a cat or something. |

We tried that a looong time ago. It was called The Dump.
It sent Digibutter into a state of horrible conflict, aggression and loathing, so it got replaced with Off-Topic.
And... We're pretty much still in that state.
It may work for people who just join and flame, but not here. |

Personally, I think there needs to be some kind of "Venting" board. But the topics would be hidden, like the Requests board, and topics were locked when they were made or something. If someone was concerned they were going to get flamed, they wouldn't have to try and see other people's topics, and if they did, they couldn't reply to the topic. Instead, they would have to take it over PM. If they made a topic replying to that topic in another board {like digiblogger or Off-Topic}, it would be locked ASAP.
I just think, you know, if we had one board where everyone could put their crap, they wouldn't drag it to every other board, y'know?
But that's just me. |

Well, digibutter is a different kind of site than that. I mean, digibutter's pretty loose on stuff, more loose than many other gaming fansites, but a board for flaming? I don't see how keeping it to one board would help, as I don't know many who like being publicly defamed/humiliated/hated. Caging a murderous beast will only make it more violent- it's just as bad as letting it run free. The best way to handle a murderous beast is to get rid of it.

If you really need to flame someone that badly, use PMs.

One problem, flaming is usually immedately done in reaction to something. No one is going to stop replying and go to a different forum to post about a post they don't like.
If you want to flame someone, dont do it in public for all to see. IM your buddies (aka gossip), or even better, PM the person directly to express your opinion in a civilized manner. |
