Inspired by the song "Another Creepy Doll" by Johnathan Coultan.
As usual, my character(s) are rather acting out a play, than it taking place in actuallity

Spiny was travelling through a small town, as per usual for him when he looked toward a hill just on the outskirts. There stood a large house, sturdy, good view, and only slightly unkempt. He ran up to the house in slight eagerness, since he needed a home, and read a sign in the yard, which labled the price at 50,000 coins. Spiny mumbled abit, as he looked at the contact information, and called the number, and stayed at a hotel for the night.

The next day, he met with the people selling the house, and presented a bag of money with the exact amount in Purple Coins. The former home owners, two married Koopas were about to seal the deal, albeit abit too happily than they should be.
"Waitaminute, is this house haunted?" he asked, suspiciously. "Oh nonono." the husband of the two said rather quickly.
Spiny sat there in abit, and agreed finally to buying the house.
Once everything was settled, he unpacked his things, setting a bag of money next to the fireplace. After afew hours of buying things, mainly stock for the fridge, he sat in the living room, reading a book before getting some sleep.

He suddenly heard a noise from the upper level, and snapped his book shut out of suprise.
"What the hell was that?" he asked himself as he crept up the stairs with a flashlight mounted on his shell. He saw a door down the hall, and heard another noise coming fromt he second direction. He half heartedly marched up to the door, and opened it as he took a deep breath, the knob coming off in his paw shortly after. He put it to the side, walked inside the room, and turned on his flashlight. he saw something move in the darkness, and shined the light on the area. The first thing he saw was a little doll, with a tattered dress, and a broken eye that wouldn't shut. The sudden revelation scared him. he chucked to himself, and closed the door, shoving the knob back into place as he went to bed.

As he drempt, he heard the door to his room squeak open, and his eyes snapped open. Spiny yelped as he saw the doll standing on him, opening it's now wickedly sharp mouth and lunging at him.
He suddenly found himself sitting in the living room, the book still open.
He instantly went upstairs, checked the room he had seen before. It wasn't even there.
"It was just a dream" he said to himself as he finshed hyperventalating, and slid down the stair railing to get downstairs. He grabbed his bag of money, and walked into the city, deciding to buy some things to spruce up the place.

Spiny entered a small antiqe store, and saw a small wooden box on one of the shelves. He examined it, and decided he'd buy it, along with a clock, a chair, and a pillow.
He brought the items to the counter, akwardly looking at the seller, an old man with a lazy eye, and wrinkled hands.
"I'd like to buy these, sir." he stated, putting the bag of money on the counter. The man nodded at the bug, and took the money needed out of the bag, and handed him the key to the box.
His eyes widened abit as he read an carving on the tarnished, rusty key.

Inscribed on the side, was his name.
His jaw hanging, he took the items back home, and opened the box after putting everything in place, setting his money back near the fireplace.
Inside was that same doll from his dream, right down to the broken eye.
"...
Well, I suppose that someone with my name in the past had a doll like this.
There's no way that key meant me" he told himself in a trembling voice.

Spiny set the doll down, and went to the fridge, and got an orange from a drawer.
He turned around to see the doll, sitting on the table, upright and seemingly staring at him.

His pupils shrank as he nervously chuckled.
"I-I must've p-p-put it there without knowing...
Heheh, that's right."
He struggled to peel the orange, and got a plate out. he sat at the table, trying to ignore the doll, which seemed to follow him throughout the room with it's eyes. He then heard a whisper.
"Can I have some?"
Spiny shot out of his seat as he heard it, and looked at the doll, who's head was actually turning to face him wherever he went.
"Y-y-you?!"
The doll nodded slightly, as he gave it half the orange, trembling from the scene.
"I need to lie down." he said, and went into the living room while finishing his half of the orange.
He picked up the book he was reading last night, and read into it more.

Eventually, he looked up from the book, and immediately tossed it into the air as he screamed.
The doll was sitting there, head cocked to the side. He sped to the kitchen, and saw the orange half he left was gone. He examined the doll, and found some orange juice smeared on it's mouth.
"Okay, so either the doll is apparently alive or insanity is finishing it's job." he thought, not knowing what to think at the moment.

Deciding he needed some fresh air, Spiny ran out the door, leaving the doll on the floor. He greeted his neighbors as he went through the town.
He was passing by a group of bushes, when he saw the edge of a small tattered dress duck behind them. He cautiously inspected the bushes, seeing nothing. He continued, at abit of a faster pace. He passed by a toy shop, when his eyes widened as he looked in the window, seeing hair similar to the doll's poking out from behind a teddy bear. He started to run at a reasonable pace, scared out of his wits. He swears he sees small shoes like the doll was hearing in several places as he jogged.

He was so wired at that point, he waited until sundown to think about going home. Spiny approached his doorstep, only to see the doll propped up against the door. He opened the door, flinging the doll away, and cloked the door, windows and blocked the knob with a chair. Spiny sighed as he walked to the bathroom to calm down.
"DAAAAAAAMN!"
The doll was sitting in between two of his spikes, riding him like a horse.
He threw it off of his shell, and sped out the door, locking it, barricading it, and chaining it shut, clearly being driven mad by these sudden appearences.

After gathering his sanity, he went to go to bed, but found he couldn't sleep. He trudged down the stairs into the kitchen, and made a cup of tea, keeping an eye out for a certain plastic guest. After making the cup without a single disturbance, he begins to flavor it.
However, good things never really last forever...
"Don't you think that's enough honey?"
It was standing right infront of the kettle.
His face took a delerious look, before instantly straightening out."That's it.
No more." he said in an eerily calm voice. he grabbed the doll, and put it in the box. Spiny shoved the key in, and locked it. He picked up the box, and his money, and threw them both in the fire. He chuckled darkly, very unlike him.
"Good riddance to that little...?!"
He noticed the room was starting to catch on fire.
He tried to open the door to get out of the house, but it was jammed.
As the wallpaper slowly peeled, he saw a giant bag of money sitting on several tree sized logs, burning.
He looked where the fireplace was, and found it disappeared.
As the front wall burned away, he screamed bloody murder.
The doll, now the size of a giant, was sitting outside in a large replica of the living room. It suddenly dawned on him; He was in the box.
He slowly began to choke on the smoke, using his last breath to utter two more words to the doll.
"... *crag* you..."
The box burned up, as the doll stood up, the sweet demeanor gone, replaced with a devilish smile, the fire reflecting off it's face. The agony of it's victim's face was but a gleam in it's eye as it unlocked the door, and marched out.

Who can say I can't posses any inanimate object and make it do my bidding?
