And it's been making her sad lately, too...
Here's what's been going on.
Her father sleeps all the time. He doesn't have a job, and he doesn't get along with her mother. He yells at people in the MIDDLE of the night, thus waking all of them up. If she leaves a can of soda near her computer and she leaves it there for TWO minutes, he takes away her DS for a week. :/
Then, a few days ago I went to a store with her and her father. The cashier asked "Oh, sir, would you like to donate a nickle to help illiterate kids learn how to read?"
He looked straight at us, and said "Can you two read? I guess not." In a smug-like "lol you fail" tone. :/ What kind of selfish bastard can't donate a NICKLE to help someone?
Then, I was at her house last night. We were planning on going up to the fair, but he wanted us to go downstairs and eat CORN. Which he's been giving her for dinner for a month straight. We weren't hungry, because we wanted to eat at the fair. He starts complaining, saying that since we didn't eat CORN for the FIFTEENTH TIME IN A ROW, we couldn't buy anything at the fair. In fact, her mother had to sneak her money in order for her father not to complain MORE.
He's the type of person that thinks he's always right about everything, even though he doesn't do ANYTHING except brag and complain...
Because of this, her mother is planning on getting a divorce and moving the FLORDIA. She doesn't want to, but she doesn't want to stay with her father, either.
The last choice is her staying with her semi-rich grandma.
So...What do you think she should do? What do you think I should do to help...?
EDIT - I don't even think her mother would be a great idea right now. Her mother is working at a bar ALL the time, and is never home, anyway. If she is, she goes out drinking later on, anyway.
Then, her semi-rich grandma owns a business, and owns said bar, as well... So, yeah. I feel really bad for my friend. ;;

Send her dad to a phsychiatrist (not sure if that's spelled right). If your friends mom moves to Florida, and she comes along, then that's bad, seeing how she might have to put up with me. So phsyciartrist or semi-rich grandmother. |

Divorce is a good idea to this point, if he's the type to complain for everything, nothing can be done. Staying with her grandma is another good choice, since thats what my mother is planning to do...my dad is kinda the same as your friend's dad. If you want to help, one thing you could do is support your friend's mother... I'm sorry if I'm no help. The reason why I kinda want to help is because I'm currently in a similar situation.

No matter what, he wouldn't go. |

This sounds annoyingly familiar to my dad, right down to the 'no job' part. As Baby Peach said, I would, too, recommend a divorce. If he thinks he's so perfect, surely he'll think he can live without anyone else. If you want to help, I would suggest just sticking with your friend and listening to whatever she's wanting to say. Sometimes, just talking can help, even if you can't offer any advice back. But, of course, don't try to force her to say anything she doesn't want to. |

Can't you go to court for that then have him have to go to the phsyciartrist if the judge rules him to go? ...I watch alot of court on tv when I'm bored... Stop staring! |

All that I can suggest that hasn't been said already, is that you should convince her mom to stay, but get a divorce anyway. |

I hate bastards like that. Maybe your friend should live with her grandma until her father calms the *crag* down. Yeah, I'm not good at helping. ;; |

After reading the edit, I'd say to go live with her grandma |
