My art teacher wants me to teach a kid how to use Flash. The only problem is that he's mentally handicapped. Like, really handicapped. He's a great artist, but what he wants to make move in Flash is going to be hard as hell. He draws dinosaurs (better than I do, actually), and now he wants to animate them.
I can't help him. First of all, I have NO patience when it comes to teaching people something. Take that lack of patience, and add in a mental disability, and I'm going to go insane. My girlfriend wanted to learn Flash, and I basically yelled at her because she couldn't grasp even the most basic things. What the hell am I gonna do with someone can't grasp the basics of almost anything? I'm in DRAWING class, for DRAWING. And my teacher wants me to take time out of the class to teach this kid how to animate. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
It's complicated, and even though the kid's a great artist, he's still "out there" with everything else. I don't want to be teaching a kid that screams and makes weird noises every 2 seconds. I DON'T WANT TO.
And by saying this, it makes me seem like such a bad person because I'm not helping a mentally handicapped person. I said "okay" to it in class, because if I said "no", I guarantee I'd be labeled on the spot.
Jeez, I can't win, can I?

If I wanted stupid spelling issues pointed out, I would've posted this in *crag* Off-Topic!
That post is serious, and I need help figuring out what to do, I could care less if I accidentally spelled "use". |

Is there anyone else who could teach him? Someone who has experience teaching handicapped kids, maybe? If you just tell your teacher that you're impatient with this kind of thing, I don't think you'll be judged/labeled for it. |

He has an aide and everything, but I'm literally the only one in my school that can use Flash that well. |

I'd say no because one I'm not good at *crag* teaching people shit unless I can just write the entire thing out and have them read it without *crag* asking questions like I can on the internet.
Two, because you have to actually screw around with flash a lot on your own to fully understand it.
And three because one time I saw a mentally handicapped kid that kept saying "Twigs" and it was really funny. |

I'd suggest telling your teacher you have little patience to teach someone, and that you said yes in class so you wouldn't be labeled. If you don't do this, you're screwed. I remember one time I got asked to teach a metally handicap how to use something as simple as:the power point thing, and I whent insane for about a week then whent back to normal and I never forgave myself for not saying I didn't whant to. I basically did it for the same reasons you did. |

you have to meet the teacher in private and tell him/her that you can't do this
the teacher should understand more than anyone that this is somthing that not everyone has the ability to do |

You should probably tell her what you told us. Say you don't really like teaching, and you don't know if you could mentally handle teaching such a kid. :\
Hope ya make it out of there okay. |
