This is a short little romp of an unfinished game I'm making with the demo of RPG Maker XP. Here's the download. You'll need the RPG Maker XP Runtime Package to run this, which you can get here.

This is sort of an experiment to see if I can work this thing. It's very simple- it has no custom graphics, music, or anything of the sort- I only used the database for custom stuff (skills, enemies etc.), and everything uses the default graphics. I changed the looks and names of the characters, but their moves and stats remain the same. It consists of a small area with a shop and a few characters and a short dungeon with a boss at the end. There are a few custom enemies like the Killer Bees on the bridge and the Thief and Mugger by the narrow river, and obviously the boss. The Thief and Mugger both know Poison Jab, a custom skill which does damage and poisons you, and once Aaron's HP gets low, he'll start using Fury Ram, a slightly stronger attack (which always says it misses, but does damage anyway for some odd reason).

Now, this is definitely not the finished version. The plot isn't fully fleshed out (though everything that happens in the demo has an eventual explanation), the classes, skills, stats and such aren't edited, and the one cutscene in the whole thing is awkward. The final version, if it exists, will have custom music, skills, stats, bosses, enemies and all that- but the default graphics will be used since I have no art skills whatsoever. Maybe I'll get someone else to do some new battle graphics or something. Since most of the characters besides Kenneth, Aaron and the Commandant were made up on the spot, they probably won't exist in the full version. I do like Reit, though.

If you're having trouble beating Aaron, just remember, Perfumes, Wendy's Leg Sweep and Karley's Heal are your friends. Reit might die fairly soon, but don't worry about it. He's got 9000 HP total, whereas most enemies have 500-1000, so just keep chipping at it and he'll die eventually. He's not that tough, but criticals can be a bitch.

If enough people like this, I'll buy the full RMXP and finish it.
EDIT: I made a mistake. When you get to the magic circle in the graveyard, go to the very bottom inbetween the trees and press C (or whatever your action button is).

For a simple game, it's pretty fun. Once you beat Aaron and you decide to go through it again, the music for the enemies are all the boss theme lol. I like it.

EDIT: One thing that I like a lot is that the exp is on the front page of the menu. Makes it a whole lot easier to tell how long until you level up again.

That's just the default menu. I'll make a custom one later on down the road, whether it's in this game or the next.

C'mon, 2 replies in almost 4 days? If I'm wasting my time with this, just let me know. Regardless, I'm coming out with another demo soon since this one sucks in comparison. Keep in mind that I made this while I was still learning.
