Moderators should not be allowed to run for president/vice president, seeing as they represent the sites administration and not the people.
electing a moderator as President wouldn't shift the influential powers already at work. Francis would still be as inaccessible as he is now to the general public. |

I agree. Who else could better support the people of Digibutter than the people themselves? No offense, mods.... |

...I don't really agree with anyone who has posted in this topic so far.
Why shouldn't they be allowed to run, simply just because they're a Moderator? Why should they have their Moderator powers taken away just because they happen to be elected?
If Francis actually goes through with this, it's going to eliminate a few good candidates. It's not fair that they feel pressure to run, simply because they're Moderators, honestly. It's just not fair. :/ |

I'm still running. But yeah, honestly, I saw this as Poison accusing the moderators as not being in-touch with the community as much as a normal member, and I take offense to that. We represent the site's Administration? So what? How does that not make us represent the people, when all we really do is anonymously tell Francis which posts we think are bad, and lock and move a few threads? Honestly, it's funny that some people think that because of a few additional powers, we aren't in-touch with the community. Digibutter Command Center works, but not as well as it should. We're still nearly as distant from Francis as most people.
Oh, and one more thing. Mods aren't powerful government officials. We're cops; best not to make us into something we aren't.
Anyway, though, it does make sense to an extent for Francis to remove our moderation status, as we would be something different, then. Francis has yet to elaborate on this yet, but it would also make sense if former Presidents could become mods again once their term is over, if they so wish to do so. |

This I agree with.
I'm sorry if I hit a wrong note by seemingly saying you aren't part of the community. you are part of the community, Already a powerful part of the community, I know because of your job you care about digibutter.
Members and moderators are two different things, Even if your power is not absolute it is power and power changes your perspective. Past that of a normal member? Ill leave that up to the people. |
