No. Nobody likes Zelda here. This is a Nintendo forum, what do you expect?
In all seriousness though, I really hope Nintendo doesn't bastardize this with their casual campaign. They already started with Phantom Hourglass (the commercials were horrendous), but it wasn't all that bad of a game, just nowhere NEAR as good as Wind Waker.

Larry Koopa probably loves you now. *shot*

M'aiq likes Legend of Zelda, but it's become a bit of a disappointment for him lately. Sure, the recent Zelda games are great games, but they just don't live up to the previous ones.

Personally, I think the whole "casual game" thing is a cake of lies. They're doing this so people will sell their Nintendo systems, then they release some awesome games, people buy new Wiis and DSes, and Nintendo makes some extra profit.

Also, I love LoZ games.

You keep telling yourself that. I'm not buying my Wii back no matter what, and I'm sure there are tons of people in the same boat as me.

I think that they should do some variation on the normal

Link - rescues Zelda - collects some magical doohickeys - kills Ganon - Rainbows ! scheme.

I read somewhen in the past about the possibly hoaxtastic "The Legend of Zelda: Valley of the Flood" which doesn't star Link and you don't actually avert the catastrophe. And whilst that loads a metric ton of "You suck!" on the player, it's variation.

Let's see:

Common Elements in all Zelda games:
- Master Sword
- Hero's Tunic
- Boomerang
- Bombs
- Doors that unlock when you kill everything
- Ganon(-dorf)
- Zelda getting kidnapped / locked / failing at life
- Gorons
- Zoras
- Dekus

- Forest Level
- Fire Level
- Water Level
- Ice Level
- Shadow Level

- Unneccesarily long Fetch Quest for some reward.

The Fetch Quest, Hero's Tunic, Master Sword and possibly recurring races are all fine, but maybe we could use some variation.

Or if they would at least remake Majora's Mask for the Wii, even if they'd jsut revamp the grahpics to modern time. I bet a lot of gamers would love remastered classics: I found Majoras' Mask to be nearly on par with Portal, and if the music, gaming and bugs were fixed and brushed up, that'd be the second coming of Miyamoto (or not; some people always say "They changed it, now it sucks" at this point.)

Anyway, Zelda - yes, but VARIATION !

Like, playing as Zelda ! We're long past the age of male-only video game heroes (and Samus Aran taking her helmet off only in the end). Whilst there aren't that many heroines because Most Gamers Are Male, it'd still be nice. Princess Peach pulled it off (though the game with the emotion concept was rather polarizing) so why not Zelda ?

Ideas ?

Hmm... Neutral

Gimme a few days, and I think I can come up with something. If you saw my topic on future Paper Mario games, I think I could come up with something that still sticks to the Zelda Universe but adds an interesting twist. Wink

Only a few games in the series are truly great. Most of them either suck or are forgettable.
