So many questions...
Why has no one not made this thread yet? Should we aknowledge the evil peddler who becomes literally horny as yokuba, or fassad? Why is the battle system so EFFING HARD TO MASTER. D: Why am I still stuck on new yokuba/fassad? Why is chapter seven so long? AND WHY IZ TEH ULTIMATZE CHIMERA IN MAH BATHROOMZ?
So yeah, discuss questions, discuss bosses that drove you insane, and umm... discuss stuff.

He's called Fassad in the english translation, but everyone has known him as yokuba since it came out in japan. |

Because Fassad = Facade

I can only assume Yokuba means something similar.IE Its an entomology joke. |

I already knew what it meant, but since everyone is so used to yokuba, I wondered what name we should call him.
Also, when I say the battle system, you DO know I mean timed hits, right?
Not like I particularly need timed hits to kick major ass. |

Mhm, Yokuba was a pun too, on the Japanese word for 'greed'. So they made an appropriate change for the translation, making Fassad's name a pun on façade.
People can call him whatever they like/prefer. I'm happy with Fassad. |

The MOTHER series attracts some people because of its interesting brand of quirkiness and humor, yet at the same time it can have depth and emotion to it, which is more present in MOTHER 3 than in its predecessors. It goes against a standard RPG game formula: medieval times, with knights and dragons, legendary swords and shields; instead, things are in a modern, suburban setting, and the antagonists use household items like yo-yos as part of their arsenal. There are other attractive (to some) elements, too, but I'll spare an essay... I've only more recently become a fan, when I finally got to play MOTHER 2/EarthBound for the SNES.
Most people's favorite game in the series is either MOTHER 2 or MOTHER 3, and MOTHER 2 is considered, I believe, one of the big great games; it's been in several top 10, 20, etc. lists I believe. It didn't sell so well at the time of its release, but more people came to appreciate it later along the line.
This particular game's popularity has also, of course, been enhanced by the significant hype that's been present for the release of the English translation. Strongest, of course, in the most devoted, pure fanbase sects, and then also attracting curious gamers who might want to see what it's all about, whether they've played EarthBound and want to give MOTHER 3 a play to be able to experience it in their language as well, or if they're taking their first foray into the series itself.
That's what I think, anyway. |

For MOTHER 3, yeah. :]
In the case of MOTHER 2, not so much, but it hasn't turned off too many people, I don't think.
A great thing to note about MOTHER 3 is just how much attention to detail there is. |

Also, yes, the picture in CD's (and my) sig are from MOTHER 3. |
