(A follow-up to the Forest. Anyone from the Forest thread has come to the village, although you can still post here for your first time. :3 )
The group of jovial villagers and the people who had followed them were approaching their hometown. Anyone who had been listening would soon figure out the story; Stephen and his wife, Elise, had gone with the other young adults of their village so Elise could have her baby at the same church her mother had given birth to her in. Now that the child, a bouncy little girl named Lila, had been delivered, everyone was heading back to the village for the baby's first birthday party.
A few houses could eventually be seen, poking through the foliage... |

Ocelot was strolling behind them, his hands in his pockets again and taking in the scenery of the forest.
"Quite the sleepy little village, comrade." |

"Oh, we're not really sleepy, in any sense. The trees around here are great for making syrup; our town was built on jam-makers, syrup-makers, and lumberjacks, pretty much," Stephen informed Ocelot.
Elise held Ami's hand, with her other arm cradling Lila.
It had grown dark. Mist threaded between the trees, and although a strange light filled the forest, the moon or stars were nowhere in sight. The chattering of the townsfolk ceased as they entered the village- even Julius's drunken ramblings.
Every light was off. All the doors were closed. It was a ghost town. |

Ocelot nodded, coming to a dumbfounded halt as he observed the empty village.
"... That is odd, all right." |

"Let me go check," Julius muttered, wandering out of sight, into the darkness down the street...
...
There was a horrifying scream. |

Ocelot sprang into action, jumping forward and running towards where the scream had come from.
"Julias?! What happened?!" he yelled, calling out for him... |

The scream scared the little 7 year old, which caused a weak PK fire to light up... but it didn't hit anyone. |

Violet immediately drew her Astral Staff from her robes and prepared for the worst.
What in the name of the Gods is going on here? |

Another kid named Jake came in, and wanted to see what was all the commotion. |

Sonora--who's been following quietly--jumps at the sound of the scream.
"J-just what's going on here?" |

As if to answer their questions, Julius came tumbling back into sight...
...covered in the missing villagers.
Their clothes were torn, and their malformed, bone-thin limbs were covered in blood. Ragged black plumage had covered their skin, and they tore at the once-jovial drunk with beaks and clawlike hands, red eyes blazing. Julius's screams soon disappeared under a cacophony of hoarse caws, and he reached for help- only to have his arm pulled back as the raven-people covered him like a feathered wave.
Elise shrieked. |

Ocelot ran back, drawing his revolvers and opening fire on the raven villages... With both of his guns loaded, he fired a total of 12 shots into the crowd.
"It can't be..." |

Violet shrieked in terror at the sight of the bloody mess and unleashed a barrage of ice spikes into the Raven village before turning to bolt out of the sight of the scene. |
