Partially correct. Lavos' presence at the core of the Earth / in a Pocket-Dimension did not in itself cause the Time Gates. The Planet is also responsible for their existence. Prime example: the Red Time Gate which Lucca found if you had Robo help Fianna with reforesting the desert. That was definitely not Lavos' doing.
Besides, if I happened to show up in the timeline, things would change, whether Lavos or the Planet had a part in things or not. My existence, depending where I am, could boost economy/population, especially further down the road. Also, anything I do would have subtle effects on how things turn out. For example, let's say I want some of the conviences from our Earth. I would eventually attempt to make it. The materials have to come from somewhere and if I have them, that would me, as a possibility, that the metals used to make Leene's Bell were in less supply, causing the bell to take longer to make. Or the bell just is not finished! If the bell wasn't finished, then there would most likely be no bell at the fair!
What if I was in 1000 AD? If I was there, I would want to reach the fair bright and early. My presence might alter events, as for example I might unintentionally cause a delay with Chrono's fateful meeting with Marle, from either end! I might get into a conversation with the Princess and thus as Chrono passes by that area, they won't bump into one another. Sure, she might still want to go check out the Teleportation Devices and still get sent back in time, but Chrono would not be to blame for the Princess's disappearance and thus not go to jail. |
