Yeah, we know your favorite openings, but what's your favorite video game endings?

By far my most favorite ending. Pure epicness.

I loved the ending of Okami, or at least the cutscene at the preceding battle...

Manly tears were shed. A little.

Also, the ending of Majora's Mask.

It was just freakin' beautiful!

Anyway...

Everything, from the beginning where Sephiroth dissolves in defeat, to where Cloud sticks out his hand to grab the hand of who he believes to be Aeris and then finding that it's Tifa (Few games have had such an emotional moment as the dialogue between Tifa and Cloud as they hung in the air), to where Marlene can be seen viewing the lifestream from her house, to where the bright flash of light encompasses the heroes, showing Aeris one last time, to the scene after the credits, showing Red XIII observing the forested ruins of Midgar,to the sounds of laughing children in the background once it is all over. Everything is beautiful. It may be short and somewhat rushed, but damn, if you played through the game and understand who these characters are, it'll bring a tear to the eye.

This is what a game ending needs to be like. Highly emotional.

With cinematic music. It may just be my opinion, but I didn't think the J-Pop that began to play as Zack died in the video in the opening post was fitting.

I would also like to add that the ending of MGS4 was awesome. Go look it up yourself. Better yet, go beat the game. ಠﮯ๏

Even if the lyrics fit the situation (And I don't know if they do or not), that doesn't mean the music itself fits the situation. A quiet, orchestral moment as Zack ascended would have made the moment far more serious, and more respectable.

Then again, the reason we're probably seeing less of that is because Uematsu is no longer with Square, which is a shame.
