Alright, the idea occured to me when this coin glitch broke loose: This is the perfect opportunity to redo the economy.

Think about it, when Francis gets around to revising the battle system and making the collectables worth something again, it would sure as hell be unfair for most people with all the richer members starting off with all the stuff forged by God himself.

What I'm thinking is that the economy just needs a total reset; clear out the usershops, drop everyone's coins, and at the start of this refreshed system, start everybody off with roughly 5% their post count in coins.(Excluding posts made in RPOT, OT, and YG) This would mean that the people who have been posting(in the major/coin-giving forums) since Digibutter's start would get the opportunity to open their shops earlier, and get the new economy jump-started.

Will coins be harder to make? No, and here's a few ideas that I feel would help stimulate posting in the major forums.

First, the established basic: 1 coin for every post.

Now, there could be additional coin-making methods:

-First idea: "Enemies"

When you make a post, there is a slight chance an 'enemy' will appear. It's nothing to worry about at all. The enemy only appears as a button on the side of the post(nearby where the x would be for a buried item) and all a user has to do is click it for a coin and point bonus. Obviously, the person who posted will have the first opportunity to get the reward. Here's a few ideas of the appearance rates:

10% chance of enemy appearing...of that:
-50% Goomba, worth 1 coin
-25% Koopa, worth 2 coins
-15% Lakitu, worth 4 coins, chance of an item
-8% Magikoopa, worth 8 coins, chance of an item, slim chance of a rare item
-2% Bowser, worth 15 coins, decent chance of a rare item

(NOTE: In RPOT and OT, only Goombas(65%) and Koopas(35%) will appear.)

-Second idea: "Turnips"

The second potential way for a member to make money is with the Animal Crossing classic: the Turnip. Turnips go on sale every Sunday, and each member is limited to a maximum of 10 turnips. The cost of a turnip differs each day from then, and the user can sell them off for a profit if the price is good. If the user holds onto the turnips for too long, they rot. Each week the minimum/maximum value of a turnip is randomized so nobody knows for sure if they are guaranteed a good deal or not.

-Third idea: "Auctions"

There are two parts to this idea; the user auctions and the server auctions. I'll explain both. First, user auctions are simple enough. The user can take an item from their inventory and post it up on the Auction House for a day. They just have to set a minimum bid and let the chaos ensue.(To prevent the massive spam like Groups get, users will be limited to having 5 auctions at a time)
Users will be able to bid on said items in the hopes of winning it.
Server auctions are somewhat different. The purpose of this is to give us items we cannot find anywhere else, items the members are likely to fight eachother over. Every day, a special item is placed up for grabs. The auctions for these last two days instead of one. These can range to pieces of equipment, if equipment is added, or special items like Starmen, which could give invulnerability, or even just really rare collectables.

Feel free to comment on and amend this idea. I'm hoping it can be shaped into something awesome.

The problem is, that might not work because digibutter isn't exactly as... how should I say, "active" as it was when it started, nor is the economy as successful as it was when the site first started.

I propose that we need to actively advertise the site and get more people to join- more newcomers who're interested in the economy and battle system to balance out all of the old members who feel that the novelty has worn off- before we add any major changes to a shop/battle system that the current populace doesn't exactly appreciate.

I do support minor additions, such as new item types and fixing the coin issue in the mean time, however. But before we completely re-do it, we need a number of people who would appreciate the change.

Throw in Nerr 2.0 and Ulti's battle system idea and you've gotta vote.

An understandable point of view. I'll be sure to add a link to digi in my sig on whatever forums I visit. I need to visit those places more...

Replace Bowser with something else.

Otherwise, supported.

Yes, especially the turnips.

I always thought Digibutter should have some kind of stock market type game.
