They are supposed to be long.

That is the style I want this character to be.

Also yeah, I would use regular paper but I was at school when I did this.

Lined paper owns, it gives me the sketch on rough paper feel. I drew Sonic's head on lined paper the first time and now I can do it anytime, any paper. The head of YOUR sketch looks a bit cheap compared to the rest of the body.
