...Perhaps it's just me, but Nintendo's games just aren't as "good" all-around.

Everyone has always looked forward towards the games that come straight from the Big N. Nintendo has always delivered, but... I can't help but feel that the games just don't have as much effort....

For example:

Super Mario Galaxy: A beautiful game, so widely anticipated, and such a wonderful experience to play.
BUT IT WAS JUST TOO EASY!!

Super Smash Brothers Brawl: Good, good. Beautiful game. Fun experience. But it doesn't have the same "wow" factor that Melee pulled off. Not to mention the cruddy Wi-Fi, painful loading times, and ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE AMOUNT OF GLITCHES. Perhaps it isn't laziness; Nintendo was extremely rushed by the fans with this one.

Animal Crossing: City Folk: You'd think that, because Wild World's structure was so successful, this would be even more impressive. But no. The reason Wild World was so awesome is that the entire structure of the town was different than it was in the original, as well as the Sound Track. There truly is no difference between the town shape in this and Wild World. Yes, there are hills once more (I screamed with joy when I saw slopes), and maybe the town's a bit bigger, and maybe there are a few new animals, and maybe some new sets and items, but the sound track remains almost nearly unchanged (the city stuff is the only real difference), as well as most other elements of this game. They didn't even improve the Wi-Fi from Wild World.

Mario Kart: Well done, Wi-Fi's great, but... they took out so much. Whatever happened to solo balloon battle? Solo Shine Runners? Why couldn't they have brought back Bob-Omb blast, one of the redeeming qualities of "Mario Kart: Double Dash!"? Why did they take out boos? WHY DID THEY PUT IN THE LIGHTNING CLOUD? And lastly, WHY DOES EVERYTHING SLOW YOU DOWN SO BADLY?? I don't know. Perhaps they were trying to favor the newbies.

I've provided my ideas. Maybe Nintendo isn't getting lazy; perhaps they're just trying to make games that

Well, I think they are just trying to appeal to everyone, but, it seams that too many of their games are just only for non-gamers. I think they should fix this, Not saying don't make casual games, just lay off it a little.I also think it would feel theres more if they didn't cluster thier releases. Brawl, galaxy, Phantom hourglass came around all the same time. I think the DS is perfects, as they have the perfect mix of types of games.

I think so, too. I think what's really getting me is what Nintendo tosses at us for the Wii.

I think Nintendo is trying to appeal to new gamers way too much, especially with the Wii. Yeah, they made some great hardcore games like Brawl and Galaxy, but they just didn't have the same wow as their past games. Like Twilight Princess is good, but it's the same exact gameplay like OoT, and Galaxy's gravity changes gameplay a bit, but again, almost like SM64. As for the casual games, most of them suck and some of them aren't real games, like Wii Fit and that personal cooking trainer (I played a demo in Nintendo Channel). Only a few of them were good, like Wii Sports and Wii Play. Overall, Nintendo is making too much casual games and a few hardcore games that recycled gameplay from their past games.

Anyone tried the Wii Version of COD: World At War Yet? I haven't, but I thought I'd ask.

As for me...

Yeah, most of the stuff they make today is pretty...meh. In earlier incarnations, Nintendo brought out some great games, like Mystical Ninja, Starring Goemon for N64, and there was Lost Kingdoms I/II for Gamecube, also.

These days though...Wii just seems to not have anything that really breaks the mold. Maybe it's just me, but the games like No More Heroes are a little too "out there." Other games like Boom Blox and Simcity Creator (both made by EA, the money-grubbin' S.O.B.s they are) just look too stupid to begin with. It seems like the learning curves are either too steep or not steep enough with the games.

I should note that the games I mentioned earlier were made strictly for the Nintendo systems (at least, to my knowledge), but the people who made them were third party. Specifically, Konami and Activision.

Maybe that could be the swift kick in the pants Nintendo needs - influences from outside sources that are well-known (excluding EA, as I mentioned).

I don't know that they have already, but it's just my input.

Razz They wanna get more gamers. It's Sony and Microsoft fault, though. But, seriously, they NEED to get rid of the sports games like Wii sports, Wii play, Wii fit, and all that casual shit!!!

What do the other companies have to do with anything? Its Nintendo's decision to make all the "casual shit."

In fact, Nintendo is liable to make the other companies follow them into the same hole because the Sony and MS know how much money Nintendo is making, and when it comes to these mega-businesses, that's the only thing that matters. PS3 and 360 gamers should be thankful that their first/third-party developers still make the awesomely hard games.

Honestly, though, the least Nintendo could do is add a difficulty option to their good games.

How the hell can someone who plays casual games be considered a non gamer?

Anyway...

For me, Super Mario Galaxy is hard as hell the first time through. Mainly Melty Molton Galaxy, aswell as the ball tracks and manta ray races.
And I seem to be one of the few who doesn't think WiFi for Brawl is bad because of the lag. It's the actual fundamentals of the idea:Play with Brawlers you don't even know. Meaning an "itemwhore" and a "tourneytard" could end up mixed together, and no one has fun because they can't actually talk it over.

Point is, I think they've gotten only slightly lazy, but overall are trying to make that "E for Everyone" mean "Everyone."
Just because a game has no actual story doesn't mean it's bad. ಠ_ಠ

Whenever Nintendo actually makes a decent amount of money, you all have to complain.

My only complaint was that Nintendo was the company that made series games that don't make me wince at some guy's head blowing off. I just don't know THAT many games for the PS3 or Xbox360 I want. Little BigPlanet, KHIII when it comes out; BK:N&B.

I just have no idea about what I should do nowadays.

The only thing I can be sure of is to live off the wii-shop.

When Sony came I think Nintendo got scared since they weren't the only video game console anymore. (Well, Sega was at that time too but they used the same formats on their games and gave up when Sony came).
When Microsoft got into the war too, Nintendo pissed their pants and were desperat to make games that non-gamers would like too, (the casual shit)!! They ended up screwing their reputation somehow on the Gamecube, and now they're gonna do the same to the Wii but worse.

But, I think 2009 will be a great year of games. I'm optimistic!!! Smile

I even downloaded Homebrew channel for the Wii because I'm so bored nowadays!

They were always lazy. Look at Heavy Lobster. They never gave him a "turning" sprite. They just make him go off screen somehow, and do it.
