First off, get a good spriting program.
If you have a windows, stick to Paint. It's awesome, but has a high learning curve. Remember to zoom in. If you have one of those sucky macs, you're stuck to downloading Pixen.

Anyways, now that you have your program, I'll put off writing the rest of this later. =)
