Sorry about yesterday. I should have probably asked you all if you liked the rule or not, and had any opinions on it.
Here was what was posted, Quote: | One other reason why all of us are going around crazy, is because of the flaming. We tend to be rude to others just for the heck of it and want to. I’m revising the punishment on flames. If you flame another member than you will get jailed for some time instead of being striked. I know it sounds strict, but if people go ahead and flame each other constantly it’s not going to help, is it? Also, if you don’t flame anyone, then it won’t affect you at all.
If you reply to flame bait with a flame, you too will be jailed for some time. I know countless amounts of times, people have said to ignore flames. Well do the people listen? Sadly no. These people will be punished for not ignoring the person as well as for not listening to anyone. If you really have to post, then post something like this, “Thank you for the flame but now it’s water’d.”
Report topics with flames. A topic will then be created in General Discussion and you will get to vote if the post was a “flame” or a “joke”. At the end of the day, if the majority of votes is jail, then the person will be jailed. If it is not jail, then they will be not jailed. If you vote, you must also post in the topic (as well as the poll), stating if you want that person to be jailed or not. Your vote will not count otherwise. I think we all need to get on the same page of what a “flame” is.
I don’t know if other moderators will take part in this, but I’m doing this because I’m tired of all this flaming and I believe action should be taken. I will be enforcing this rule greatly and remember, if you don’t flame, you don’t have to worry about anything. Just remember to ignore. |

Alright. Let me say this again. This is NOT going to work. All you're doing is replacing the court with GD and giving everyone the ability to strike people. Not only that, but we'll have to be WAY more careful about hurting people's feelings, and it's impossible to tell how anyone will react to anything. This isn't kindergarten, for christ's sake. You misunderstand the problem. It's not that people are going crazy flaming each other, it's that people are reporting anything and everything that might be taken slightly offensively by any huge stretch of the imagination. This is going to make it ten times worse, since mods with common sense won't be able to stop bullshit claims from going to court. |

The problem isn't the reports. The problem is the strikes. It really bothers me when people blame the reporters, since reporting is to bring it to the mods' attention and they decide if it should be striked.
As for the actual topic thing, the topic should be created in Court. That way GD doesn't get flooded with topics that don't belong there, they belong in Court even if they have a different punishment. And a mod should have to strike the post so we don't get topics on really stupid things. Oh yeah, and don't strike the TOPIC that has flames in it. Strike the individual posts that flame. It's not the topic creator's fault if their topic about "which system should I get?" turns into a massive flame war. |
