Why a platformer? So we can have Mario speaking in full sentences, more often? It might work, but they need to come up with an equal form for Mario to use alongside Super Sonic. I mean, SuperStar Mario would work, if he had the Starman Motif, inspired by Sol Django from the Boktai Series. |

Bottom line is, Sonic and Mario should never be in the same game. Ever.
Sonic games have sucked since Heroes (Adventure 2 Battle was the last decent 3D one), and the series needs to be put to rest.
Mario games are also in a downward spiral. Does anyone recall The Decline of Video Gaming? Mario Accountancy, Mario Sets the VCR, Mario Does the Weekly Shopping. That's the kind of thing we're expecting nowadays. The last explorable, enjoyable Mario game to come out was Super Mario Galaxy, back in 2007. Now I know they can't pop them out every few months or so, but the ever-reducing quality in the sequels of the casual spinoffs has gotten stale.
In the old days, Sonic and Mario were at the height of the gaming ladder. They were console rivals, they were the big selling point of the consoles. Nowadays? Nope. They aren't rivals, they're on the same system (Sonic is cross-platform, so what? Still on Wii.), and they've even stooped so low as to put them in a game together (even with Smash Bros, they were pushing it, but Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games was a travesty simply based on concept). They've gone from rivals to friends. From achievers to cash whores.
These two need to be put to bed, once and for all. |

Honestly, both Sonic and Mario have been nothing more than names to slap on half-assed games for sales. Except in Sonic's case, it's actually dragging games' reputation down simply because they're Sonic games. ФֻФ |

I agree with you on the whole 'shut up your ideas suck thing', but those two are golden icons for me, and if you ask me, the games are starting to pick up a bit. When Sega releases a good Sonic game, it's really good, and when they release a bad game, it's bad. Besides, we've got Black Knight and M&L3 coming out, and those look promising. |

I actually disagree with you completely, especially since they've said they're making SMG2 (or some new Mario thing of that type). I think that Mario Party and Mario sports need to die, but other than that, I actually really like the Mario games. they're fun, challenging, and they look nice. And as for Sonic games, I haven't played Sonic The Hedgehog 2006, Sonic and the Secret Rings, or Sonic Rush Adventure, but other than the possible exception of those, I love the Sonic series. I don't know why I love it so much, and I don't know why so many people hate it, but I think the games are awesome.
And either way, Sonic MIGHT leave, but Mario never will. Mario is THE video game series. Whenever someone who doesn't play games thinks of games, they think of Mario.
