Whenever you kill someone, you get 20 coins from them.
How does this help? It makes people not want to be dead. "Oh shit, My HP is at 5, I should buy a healing item so someone doesn't kill me!"

They buy an item.

"Ohh, I could score some coins by getting an arrow and shooting it."
They buy arrow.

Also, make dead people earn minimal coins. When your dead, you get an extra forum. SWEET! Also, your sig will read "R.I.P Here lies Guest. A good man."

This way,
1: People will buy more items.
2: Items will be used more
3: Dying is bad
4: ???
5: PROFIT!

If Dead people can't gain coins they can't get coins to revive themselves and will have to rely on someone to revive them.

Anyway.

These suggestions to revitalize the battle system by making people not want to be dead are bound to be crap. Because if one of them is activated, killings can start stirring drama, especially when done on the intent of expressing hate.

Furthermore, your system offers a reward for killing. Don't forget Digibutter's gap between rich and poor is so huge it's only beaten by the real world. Therefore, people with less money would be bound to the grave and would keep getting poorer; and richer people will start dandily abusing the poor to get even richer.

Taxes. That is all.

Or an economical crisis !

Actually, we had that before, but anyway...

Let's start anew.

I still suggest my old "Golden Saucer" idea. I'll look it up; okay ?

EDIT:

We need a sort of new motiation for getting coins in a first place. Like a "Golden Saucer" forum which is like a VIP Forum casino shiny thingamajig and for which you need coupons to post and maybe even an expensive pass item to look at it.

And it's give you a special score. Which will introduce a totally unnecessary social ladder into the forum that upsets EDIT: usurps the old order of post count.

Well, I need to work on it. It was bigger in my memory. Yes, no, maybe ?

We could become like a Korean Cash MMO, only with all ingame coins.

Give me an afternoon, and I will cook up some mechanics.

But what if someone isn't really what their username is? I mean, for all you know, I could be called bobz, but in all reality be your left testicle on drugs.

On the subject of the economy revival plan: That would only work if all coins were reset (which would only cause drama over virtual money.) and if we all liked each other.

This will only be used for revenge. And, as stated previously, there's too much of a gap between rich and poor. Hell, there's a gap within the rich portion. 3:|════׀

Zelnor delivers. Transcription later.

... I came up with all this in, like, one german lesson. Boreeeed.
Also, I fear that this, in its scribblyness, being-confusing, added-at-the-last-minute and WTF-is-going-on-here goodness represents quite accurately how my mind works.

Anyway, Two words: GLITZ PIT.

Hang on for 50 minutes, I have a free period next. THEN ALL SHALL BE REVEALED. *seats self like Gendo Ikari*

... IDEAFLASH: Geno Ikari. Gotta photoshop

EDIT 2: Image resized and rotated.

Okay, soo...

The biggest problem with Digibutter's economy is that we have a magical fairy called Francis that vomits out a coin whenever we post. There is, in short, an infinite supply of money.

And therefore, we have inflation. The money is worth nothing. I know that it is virtual money, but even within the system of Digibutter, where we agree that it has worth, it is not worth anything because there is an infinite amount of them you get without ever doing anything.

The first step is to limit the amount of money that exists to a set number, maybe - at out current member size - a million coins, or possibly, to make a nice Mario reference, 999 coins per user.
999 coins per active user, that is - we have about 1000 registered users (we should clean that up some day, but I already suggested that at length a few months back.)

I do not say that we should make a "New Deal" (that's our last-second emergency plan), but to create a new coins system, let the people have what they have at the moment, and create coinsinks.

(Coinsinks: Well, "Kingdom of Loathing", a popular browser-based MMO, also has a technically infinite source of meat (the game's currency), but it's limited by the number of adventures you have per day. They, too, had incidences with glitches that created meat, etc., endangering the economy and to manage the economy and the excess of meat one could accumulate, they created Meatsinks, things that cost a lot of money and yet do little to nothing at all.)

For that purpose, I recommend a Forum called "Golden Saucer". You have to buy a Golden Saucer Ticket in Goldbobbington's, and it;s good for one, five or ten posts in the Golden Saucer. This way, we pull money out of the rich people. (Whether or not the money that goes into not-user shops should be reinvested into the economy is another issue; if we make the number of coins in the system finite, we should create something like a "MeowMaid" bot that buys from usershops or pays us wages or gives birthday gifts, dunno.)

Once we have that fixed, we need to get the money flowing. Money is only working when it is going around, so we need to fix the flow. At the moment, there is -

Sorry, free period once again over. I gotta go home; catch you in the evening.

Anyway, look at the flowchart. I think we can improve the economy but we'll have to sort out the fine details - infinite coins and used-and-gone items, good. Finite coins, but used-and-gone items, bad.

Your thoughts so far ? Will elaboate on plan and epic new content ideas later.

It involves breeding meowMaids, and lots of inversely proportinal revamps of old features - a sort of "Robin Hood" economy.

Okay, I have time to elaborate on that one:

Robin Hood Economy is based on inversely proportional coin functions - the more coins you have, the less you'll get. I am unsure about whether or not we should keep on rewarding posts with coins - if we do, we need sinks or something - but balance is everything in economy.

If you kill someone, you have a chance to loot a percentage of whatever items and coins they have. The more items and coins you already have, the less you get.

When you post, and posts are still rewarded, then the more coins you have, the less you get for posts.

Okay, I lied. Gotta go now, am late. Real elaboration later.
