That is not the correct answer. My answer was right. (Except I didn't distribute, but oh well, it's still the same)
You asked to solve the equation for x.
7x + 9y( 20n - 4p ) = q <----The equation.
7x + ( 180ny - 36py ) = q <----Distribute the 9y into the parentheses for simplicity. (I did not do this in my original post, but it's still equivalent)
7x = q - ( 180ny - 36py ) <----Subtract the expression within the parentheses from both sides, canceling out the expression from the left side of the equal sign.
x = ( q - (180ny - 36py) ) / 7 <----Divide both sides by 7.
What you did was not solving for x, but using an identity property:
Anything is equal to itself, always.
I just did the one thing in math I hate most: Proofs. |
