I just saw a commercial for the ASPCA, and it really got me thinking: How can anyone be such an asshole to abuse a poor little innocent, adorable animal to the point of near-death? I just don't get it.
I think everyone who doesn't have a near-pure heart deserves to die. The world would be so much better off. (That's not to say, though, that I have a near-pure heart.)
What are your thoughts on the subject of animal abuse?

It's supremacy, people abuse animals for fun and to show they have control. Sometimes it gets to me other times it doesn't, it really depends on how it's played out. |

You shouldn't abuse animals. They actually help us humans, so why repay them by beating them?
It's like winning a race only to get 50 lashes of a whip.
Anyone who encourages or supports or participates in animal abuse should probably get help.

I think it's horrible. People seem to think that because it's "stupid" It's okay. By that logic then it's okay if you hit retarded people every once and awhile. Here is an exerpt from someone on the webs.

Guys, lots of bulls are killed horribly everyday so the world has meat to eat. If you don't like animal abuse, shouldn't you be on to that before?

The difference is this:
A quick death is nowhere near as horrid as torturing, beating, whipping, and scarring something.
Would you rather die in an instant, or have to live scared of literally everything, and being beating every day so much that you can hardly breathe? I wouldn't.

I can't lie about the fact that I've lightly smacked my cat in the face a few times, but that's only when she tries biting me for no reason.
yeah, like most other people in this topic, i'm against animal abuse. i'm not against animal abuse because of the fact that "OMG THE ANIMALS ARE SO ADORABLE AND INNOCENT THEY DON'T DESERVE TO BE HURT", but I'm against it because I know that they have feelings too. i mean, you'd be pretty upset if someone abused you, right? |

This is not about killing for food. This is about killing for the mere purpose of showing supremacy over another species. We don't kill and eat little, adorable animals for that very reason. They're little; not enough meat on them. So people just hurt them to make them feel inferior, just so they can have a little power surge. |

Those that think violence is the only way to show supremacy are idiots. In the words of my old band teacher, "It takes an uncivilized person to play loudly, but a civilized one to play in a melodic tune," This means that people should take a softer approach to show supremacy. That's mostly my reason why I think animal abuse is bad, also behind that is the fact that it's highly unjust. It's the equivalent of attacking someone that can't fight back. If you've studied philosophy on that subject, than you'll understand the moral implications of it (they don't apply if you don't understand morals, are a douchebag, or a really big idiot). |
