Oh, the things you can stumble upon... Apparently, there are some communities devoted to the more... unorthodox things one can do with it. I've also found a program with text-to-speech and synthesizers and stuff for making your own suggestions. It's an interesting idea, but before I'll try anything (if I do that at all) I'll read a little into the matter.
A) I would never trust someone else to hypnotize me; auto-hypnosis might be interesting, though.
B) It's been studied quite a lot; luckily no matter how deep one is hypnotized, one never goes against one's own beliefs / ethics / morals.
C) Apparently after some time you wake up automatically or go to sleep and wake up later, you cannot get stuck in hypnosis.
Intriguing, to be sure.
Your opinion on the matter ? Have any of you ever been hypnotized ? Should I actually dare ? Why am I posting this ?
I've downloaded "Vitual Hypnotist", ask my dad (he's a doctor and said there's no potential for harm), surfed Wikipedia, and edited some of the scripts because I'm not into "you're my slaaaave" and "you want to do this over and over again".
Hypnosis is very interesting. I watched a video in my psychology class where there was this guy who smelled gasoline while hypnotized, and the therapist, before making him smell it had him smell a cologne first and then he said the next bottle was a different cologne. The guy ended up saying it was very masculine and nice, and a cologne he would wear. He seemed pretty surprised when he came out of it to find out it was gasoline.
I've been hypnotised before. It's actually not a bad experience. The hypnotist that did it made us do some pretty ridiculous stuff, but afterwards you felt really calm, and your head was a little cloudy, and it was fun having people tell you that you looked hilarious doing all that stuff. After I woke up, I didn't really remember much of what happened, so everyone else filled me in. I definitely wouldn't mind doing it again.
