Yeah, this is some project that I started working on a few hours ago due to me finding some Sonic-style background tutorials on Mystical Forest Zone. Done completely in MS Paint.
This is incomplete, so there will probably be more postings as I get stuff done. |

The shading's a bit iffy on the brown tiles and rocks, but I'm really diggin' the grass. |

Couple changes here.
The slope isn't as steep, but now it is proportional to the other blocks. Sky lengthened a little bit, as is evidenced by a new small hill at the right side. Sky's a little shorter height-wise due to an accident. I suppose it makes up for the lengthening though. Also, half-assed sun with a subtle pillow shading in it. |

Messed around a bit with the shading on the blocks, you may need to zoom in a bit to see it. Added some weird tangled fern thing. |

I can see the difference on the shading on the blocks, and I think even that subtle change has made it look a little better and less square-y. I'm terrible at explaining my thoughts, but hopefully you get what I mean. |

I think the problem with the rocks and fern thing is that their outlines are too noticeable.
Try making the outline a darker shade of the main color. |

Made the fern thing more plant like. took CBL's advice and changed the outline color. |

Looking better.
My favorite part right now is the grass. I just love how you shaded it. |

The shading on the slope under the grass bugs me a bit. You should keep the pattern consistent with the flat ground; it looks kind of ugly as it is. ФֻФ |

That is the result of lazy MSPaint skewing.
Fixed shading under sloped platform. Should look better now. |

I don't like the pillow shading on the blocks. |

The rocks, fern and the clouds look weird when put beside the land tiles. The land tiles are all perfect and neat, and the others are kind of sloppy.
Just keep putting details into them, cuz every time you edit it, it's looking better. (: |

I'm just sloppy when it comes to drawing in MSPaint, I'm afraid.
Redid the rock to not look as sloppy (Palette left in on accident) Changed the outline of the land in the background. (The two dots represent the colors of the outline, also left in on accident) |
