STUPID BULLSHIT SKIP THIS PART IF TL;DR
I decided since I wasn't working on anything, I'd take part in RMN's 3-hour game making competition. The theme was (playable) supervillains and the secondary optional bonus-point theme was zombies. I released a total mess because my ideas were WAY too complicated to put together in 3 hours, even in RMVX, but nothing's stopping me from making it into a full (albeit very short) game. It's just that that'll take a few months of on-and-off work. Next 3-hour game event, I'll be sure to come up with something a lot less ambitious; but then again, the point is to vomit up whatever broken horrible shit you can in a ridiculously short time frame. Besides, I had fun with it and I now have 3 hours of work done on a project that I actually like.
SO HERE'S WHAT I HAVE DOES THIS SOUND COOL Y/N
The protagonist and titular character is an evil wizard who calls himself the Necrolord (better name pending) with the ability to summon the undead. Together with his entourage of hellspawns, he sets out to storm the nearest castle and secure himself a comfy spot on the throne. The plot had all of 3 minutes worth of thought put into it due to time restriction. You can summon 4 different creatures. You can have either 2 or 3 out at a time; I haven't decided which, and they will stay out until they die or at the end of 3 turns. Ghouls are lost wandering souls. They have plenty of magical strength, but can't take very many hits. Revenants are shambling skeletal corpses with the ability to take an absurd amount of punishment. They can't deal much damage, but they can provide support to the rest of the team and impair the enemy. To compliment their sturdiness, they last longer than the other creatures before returning to whence they came. Damned are the souls and bodies of those doomed to eternal torment in Hell. They don't last long, but they can dish out tremendous amounts of physical damage. Faceless are the embodiment of soulless creatures. They can heal their allies and provide powerful boosts, but they have very little offensive capabilities themselves. And then there's the Necrolord himself, always in the fray. His abilities, aside from summoning, are undecided upon, as are the penalties for and restrictions on summoning. He holds everything together. If you lose him, it's game over.
Most of the resources in this are going to be RTP. The tiles will probably end up being Mack's, and the music will be taken from Newgrounds. Of course, if anybody wants to lend a hand in the graphical or musical department, I'd be forever grateful... but it's a little early in the process to be asking favours. ФֻФ |
