It's actually Gabe that hates the PS3, Because it's "a waste of time"which is true
Valve don't hate the ps3.
They hate the idea of having to go through dev school again just to dev for a console that they can do without developing for at the moment.
If you can afford a PS3 then you can afford a computer that can play source games.
That isn't the only reason why they won't develop for it, because if they did, they wouldn't get that much sales to fit the costs of having to develop it for the ps3, Which would be disastrous if the ports got no sales. Because they would have wasted a lot of time and money on something when they could have made something more succesful and better.
Source games use DirectX. Only Windows PCs and Xbox 360s run DirectX. They'd need to port the whole rendering to OpenGl, which is a pain in the ass even if they did it for The Orange Box.
tl;dr: PS3 is hard to develop for and source's rendering engine is different from the one the PS3 uses.
Besides, Source is designed to run well on a variety of systems, even shitty ones, even ones that run on a Nvidia MX440 which is a 64mb videocard. Just don't run the game in max settings with 16x AA °Д° ◉_◉ ʘﮯʘ |
