I have a few suggestions that may improve the court/punishment system.

1. Remove coin fines. I expect I don't need to explain this one. Perhaps replace it with the old three strike = jail system.
   
2. If a member chooses not guilty they are temporarily muted/jailed until the court session ends or after a predefined time. This would both discourage members from choosing not guilty just to evade punishment and also to possibly speed up court sessions - the reported member would want to be unmuted/unjailed as soon as possible.
   
3. The court forum remains visible, but the only ones who can post are the person was reported, the one who reported him/her and a 'jury' selected by Francis, who would be responsible for voting guilty or not guilty. This would help reduce clutter in topics.
   
4. As a possible modification to suggestion 3, the jury could be automatically selected for each court case, randomly chosen from a list of active members (those who have visited/posted in the last few days). This would eliminate possible bias from a fixed jury, but might select members who are not suitable (eg. new members, friends of the reporter/reported etc.).

These suggestion are a bit more strict than past punishment systems, but I think it could be worth a shot. Any comments?

how about we just get rid of court and go back to the three strike system instead

or, even better, use a strike system that uses percentages. then strikes could be severe or just minor. Like, if you censor bypassed, maybe you'd just get a 5% strike. but if you posted porn all over the place it'd be like 25% or something. and when you get to 100%, you'd get jailed.

...but of course, we'd have to have mods who actually know how to do their job for that, and we don't, so i guess that wouldn't really work.

I realy like those. but I think, rather than active users, it the jury should be active users who were involved, like who posted before the strike.

I know some members think Francis is doing jack shit, but he actually has been doing work on digibeta, and it's turning out pretty okay. Also, what Tuper said.
