10 years ago today (9/9/99) my roomate did, it was awesome... 4 controller ports... It even had a web browser (something the Xbox 360 still doesn't have). It also had rampant piracy which kinda killed it. That and everyone was waiting for the over-hyped PS2 to come out.
The controller wasn't that great, but the VMU was sweet. The precursor to the GBA link cable for gamecube.
Great games like Powerstone, Soul Calibur, Shenmue, and Phantasy Star Online. The only thing I regret is Sonic Adventure, the birth of a whole series of horrible 3D RPG sonic games.
I always hoped 9/9/9 would bring a huge announcement from SEGA, but sadly, it doesn't look like that is going to happen.
