I recently got Mario Strikers Charged, and I was on my second attempt at beating the Crystal Cup when it looked like I was going to lose to Diddy Kong again. So I thought to myself, what is a nerr to do? Reset of course before the game saves my loss! The classic reset-and-redo cheat. Much to my surprise the game gave me a 0-7 loss! I tried it again later, turning off the Wii a second into a match, and sure enough, it gave me a loss.

Do any of you use Reset or Power-Off to restart from a save point to avoid an impending loss?
Have you seen any other games that punish you for trying?

it doesn't suprise me they can do that. I'm sure it works on the same program as resetti in animal crossing.

I do that all the time... Except when I'm feeling stupid. Like when I passed up Kyogre on Sapphire because I didn't feeling like playing an extra 5 minutes and I forgot to save right before the fight.

Oh yeah... well, I'm actually kind of glad that they're cracking down on those kind of cheats. No offense. Razz I'm pretty sure that some of the WiFi games on the DS give you a penalty for disconnecting in online matches... and thus I wouldn't doubt it if the same happens to go for some of the Wii WiFi games (or WiiFi as I like to call it).

I can understand WiFi games.. but this was just for a single player tournament. That's hardcore.

I used to reset all the time in Resident Evil 4. I would venture out, without worry, knowing i was just a reloaded-save away from wiping away any mistakes and knowing what was up ahead.

I'm an honorable man; I can't remember any time I've ever disconnected on an opponent, even on the brink of losing.

I think they're trying to cut down on disconnecters from wifi and they must've just implemented it into the whole thing.

I've used it before like on Ocarina of Time, but it was already mentioned, but Animal Crossing punishes you for resetting and I can see it to be a continuing trend in nintendo game.

So that means people like me with a not always stable internet connection get punished for things we may not actually be doing.

Unless it's been proven you still might be in luck.
But now that I think about it I realize that that would mean anyone could unplug their internet because I was going to say disconnecting is different than shutting the Wii off, but yeah. I think you might get punished for that.

The best thing to do would be to figure out what's up or call your ISP.
