MySims on the Wii is far superior to the DS.

First glance:
Wonderful game. Cute characters, and the scenery is fun to look at. The characters remind me of a silly mix between Maple Story, Miis, and Legos. The gameplay looks fun and involving, and the character creator looks really fun to play with too!

After I played it:
First thing I noticed when you start up is the large amount of options you get for choice of hairstyles, eyes, mouths, glasses, clothes, and even FACEPAINT. I played with the character creator for a good thirty minutes to an hour before I was ready to start playing the actual game.

One of the first things I noticed was that there are no genders... just voice difference. You can have a "man" in a dress in this game, though why would you want to have a girl with an extremely low voice?

Then the game started. I had my character, and I roamed around town until I found the mayor. We talked, and she took me to my (destroyed) house... and I had to rebuild it. Well, you don't get many options at this point... but I got creative. I made a house in the shape of an I, and covered the roof with FLAMENGOS AND GARDEN GNOMES. My house was the greatest in the land.

Then as the game goes on you learn about essences, which are basically colors of paint that go into different categories (creepy, studious, geeky, etc.) that you can add to most things to make it seem more or less of any essence.

Later on you get a workshop. Wait... what? Workshop? What could you possibly be building in a sims game?

Furniture! You can build FURNITURE! And it's not just a simple system where you get two blocks and a model to shape it around. You have full control of it. Once you put in the basic, most essential building blocks (for a chair, that's four blocks for legs, and a seat), you can go wild. You can make yourself a box for a chair if you want, or you can make a couch with ten legs... or if you so wish, you can make anything you want at ALL. You can make a giant 8-bit mario for the seat of the chair (if you have the basic blocks put in there.)

So after I played around with these features for a while, I go around town and talk to the people, and they give me "tasks". Basically what you do is build whatever item they want, a couch, a chair, a fridge, a stereo, whatever, and paint it with the essences they tell you to paint it with. Not too difficult.

Then eventually I get a whole star point for my town, and they give me a crowbar... WOOT. I access another part of the town, find some buried video games, and come back to town to find that somebody wants to move in, so I move them in. Fun thing is, I get to make THEIR house any way I want! Then, if I "give" them an item, I can even remodel the entire interior of their home.

That's how you level up your town. You build things for sims, move sims into your town, etc.

Simple, yet EXTREMELY fun game.

Now... *sigh*... let's compare it to DS.

Pros
Wii:
-VERY customizable characters
-Fun and easy building, you can make just about anything that comes to your imagination when it comes to furniture or housing.
-Conversations are fun... nothing beats getting into a fight with the hotel's bell boy, and then having a nice chat with the flower girl.
-Easy to "level up" your town, and dare I say FUN.
-Chose who moves into your town, and even get the option of kicking people OUT!

DS:
-Minigames
-Two screens, top screen showing map or daylight

Cons
Wii:
-No minigames
-One screen

DS:
-No building, very little customization, the conversations are timed, and the minigames are boring anyway.

My scores:
Wii
Graphics: 8/10 - cute, fun, and just really nice to look at
Gameplay: 9/10 - is there anything you CAN'T do?
Controls: 7/10 - works good for the game, but it annoys me when you're building, you barely shake the wii remote, and your block flies off to the other side of the screen, making you ruin your masterpiece for the seventh time Sad
Storyline: 0/10 - uh... what storyline?
Levels of FUNNINATION: 9001/10 - the amazing fun levels of Nintendo with the Sims making skill of EA... we have a winner.

Ds
Graphics: 6/10 - not nearly as good as the wii.
Gameplay: 3/10 - it's actually really boring...
Controls: 8/10 - they're okay
Storyline: 0/10 - no storyline
Fun: 3/10 - the only reason you would play it is to get 5 stars and gold medals on minigames... it's not really fun at all.

I DEFINITELY recommend this game, but for the WII, NOT THE DS.

What about the lasting appeal of the game?

Most reviews I have read mark it down because theres nothing really to do. Its like a Sims game, but without any of the "life" parts like family or social interaction. The bulding and customizing is great, but if thats all there is to it, im sure that will get old quick especially since you cant share your creations with anyone.

Makes me look foward to Animal Crossing Wii.

oh you hush, Francis. I'm beginning to think you have bad taste.

this game isn't the SIMS, it's MYSIMS, there's a difference, and you have to learn to love the game for what it IS, not for what you WANT IT TO BE.

Sure, you don't get to take care of your sim as if it were a little pet, but that was always the most boring part of the games for me. Building was always the funnest part, not getting a job and living in a small one-room shack for ten years before you can finally afford a bed.

I honestly thought MySims was the worst attempt at a game on the Wii yet... It's... DISGUSTING! essentially nothing to do, subpar graphics, difficult building mode, immediate boredom, and always-the-same-ness are all features I found that make the game poor.

Meh, Flavio always hears that

A. It's one of the worste games ever

or

B. It's a great game.

Flavio thought it was really fun, but it lacked things to do. Though if they were to release a sequel, with extra things to do, then it would have ROMANCE! THRILLS! EMOTION! and MONEY!

I'm sure you much prefer playing games like halo all day long, where you kill other people constantly for no real purpose other than the fact that they're wearing the opposite color...

you have horrible taste. DREADFULLY, DEPRESSINGLY horrible taste...

Surprisingly, I haven't played it yet, as much as a sims addict as I am.

...
...
...
I should probably get it.
