I believe that there is a possibility of him existing. If he does exist, I think his role would be like that of a programmer. He created the laws of physics and set them in motion. He then just kicked back and watched his program do its work. I just can't believe in the existence of a god who takes an active part in what happens in the universe all that easily.
Also, I don't believe that any of the holy books are the direct word of God. Even if God spoke to the people that wrote the Bible, he would have probably needed to dumb it down for them (like when you try to explain something to a small child). The people who did the writing would have also wrote down everything as they remembered it. I probably won't believe the Bible or any other holy book completely until I see a bolt of lightning etch the words into stone. |

I don't really care if God exists. I just try to live my life according to what I think is right. If God exists, then I think that he would rather have us do what is right because we think it is right rather than because he said to do it. If he doesn't exist, then I'm pretty much in the clear. |
