Yeah, um, okay…

This idea struck me yesterday after playing too much TTYd and being very, very bored.

I’d like top ask for your help in the creation and perfection of the game “Mushrooms and Marios“
I have some basic stuff thought out, but I need to get the details done and the errors out, and for that I need people who think different. In other words –

[img][/img]
Okay ?

Basics

Game Name: Mushrooms and Marios - The name is supposed to be a homage to Dungeons and Dragons. Any better suggestions would be appreciated.

Game Type: Tabletop Interactive Drawing Role Play Game (TIDRPG)

Basics:

Models

To get models to play with, go to either The Spriters Resource or The Shyguy Kingdom, select your favourite Mario-themed sprite sheets, print them out and cut them out. Ta~da – Your first models.

Size Matters
Any models are put into a specific category, after their size, which also (except for legendary models, which are issued as a prize in tournaments) tells about their power – small model, small power, small HP, big model, big power, many HP. Also, the bigger the model, the more points you need to summon it, which takes us to

Points

There are the following kinds of points:
HP– Heart Points – The number of points a model has as it’s life force
FP – Flower Points – Points used for special attacks
Points – Points you use for summoning models to the field. You also gain the number of points you opponent used to summon a model you defeated back on your account. Every 100 point, you Level Up, meaning that you can summon one more model to the field then normally (The normal number of models you an summon is three, regardless of how many points you have at the start of a game).
LP - Life Points – Points, that determine how strong you are. When you have no models on the field anymore, your opponent can attack your LP directly. Go to 0 LP and you have lost the game. (Maybe I should add as a rule that you get half of the points you used for summoning a model back when it’s defeated ? Because somehow you have got to have a chance to get a model back on the field when you have no left and used all of your points… or maybe a dice roll… See why I ask you guys to help me complete the concept ?)
DP- The salt in the soup, Draw Points – The points are used to draw items, models or other things directly onto the field. See

Using Draw Points
Draw Points are rather powerful, that’s why you only have a small amount of them in each game, are there are nearly no ways to regenerate them. For a number of Draw Points, you can draw something onto the field. That drawing will be treated as a special model, however it’s power, and the amount of DP needed to summon it is determined by –

Size Matters II
Models have different sizes, and are ordered after that.
The categories are as follows:
a) 0 cm2 < Model < 1 cm2 Small model, Small power (HP from 1 – 2, DEF 0, ATK 1-2 EDIT : SPD 3 - 5, See Model Stats )
b) 1 cm2 < Model < 3 cm2 Normal (HP 2 – 4, DEF 0 – 2, ATK 2 – 3, Special Abilities EDIT : SPD 2-4 )
c) 3cm2 < Model < 5 cm2 Big (HP 3 – 6, DEF 1 – 3, ATK 3 – 5, Special Abilities EDIT : SPD 1 - 3)
d) 5cm2 < Model HUGE (Hp 6 – 15, DEF 2 – 4, ATK 3 – 6, Special Abilities EDIT : SPD 1 - 2
e) Model either > 7 cm2 or < 0,5 cm2 - LEGENDARY (Hp ??? DEF ??? ATK ???, Special Abilities, EDIT : SPD ???)

In case of draw points, you need to sacrifice 1 DP to draw a model from a), 3 to draw from b), 5 to draw from c), 7 to draw from d) and OVER 9000 ! to draw a legendary model.

Backgrounds
With the appropriate number of Points, one may summon a background, either as a fancy decoration or for its special effect.

Example Background:
The Thousand Year Door
Whenever a player has the model “Magical Map” on his side of the field, he may summon one “Diamond Star”, “Emerald Star”, “Gold Star”, “Ruby Star”, “Sapphire Star”, “Garnet Star” or “Crystal Star” every 2 turns from his Model Box at the cost of ½ of the normal point cost.

Also, Backgrounds are divided into spaces, as they serve as the battlefield. Another idea of mine would be adding a SPD stat, which states a) how many spaces a model can move before attacking in a turn, and b) the order in which the models attack.
To move, you roll a four-sided dice (I personally use my Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphics Calculator and its Probability Simulator with the “Random Numbers” Plug-in, keeping me from carrying so many dice around) and add your SPD stat.

Which brings me back to –

Model Stats
HP
ATK
DEF
SPD
---> Pretty Self-Explanatory, eh ?

Well, that’s about it for the time being…

(I already, out of boredom, made myself a model box a year ago, it looks kinda like this:

When you’re nor playing M&M, you could use it for comedical purposes, as :

IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER !

SHOOP DA WOOP !

It also might make makin’ sprite comics a lot easier…
Well, So much from me…

I’d be glad for anny comments, suggestions, additional rules, proposals or maybe a model sheet. Whoops, I forgot the –

Model Sheets

*Insert Picture of Doopliss here*
Name: Doopliss
Class: Mage / Duplighost
ATK:
DEF:
SPD:
HP:
Size:
Special Abilities:
- Cloning (Cost: 5 FP NOTE: Models all take FP from the same source, like the partners in TTYD use Mario’s FP and recover Mario’s FP when using stuff) Doopliss takes over the stats of another model. Doopliss keeps these stats until defeated, the models owner’ decides to take it back or the opponent draws his name in a size b) DP Box. When transformed, Doopliss cannot attack any models except the one he transformed into, but also cannot be attacked by your opponent’s monsters.

I think this sounds like it could be pretty cool. It might be more fun to play over the forums, since there are lots of people here who might be interested. o:

I wanna make a Kii character model...XD

First, thanks for all yer posts. I hope my PM advert campain didn't earn me strikes... O.o

Also, I need the rule- and battle system worked out - and other ideas for features, as well. I think it's okay if you make oyur own characters, but we should let it stay Mario-centered, kay ?

Additional ideas from me...
Okay….

Other Ideas for Mushrooms and Marios that I got yesterdays whilst playing too much TTYD and SPM:

- Treasure Chests. At the start of the game, every player chooses up to 5 of his item models and puts them into a pot. Also, every player gets key models put into his sprite box. When playing a background, or a random background appears, there is a one in three/ four / five chance one or more treasure chests appear with it. The player who plays his corresponding key model first (the allegiances of the keys are canon, so Hooktail castle keys open chests in the Hooktail Castle background, etc. – There ARE TTYD Key Sprite Sheets ) rolls an x sided dice, x the number of items in the public pot – which are numbered prior – and gains the rolled numbers item into his current hand.
- Next idea: Drawing. You have a number of item- and other models on your hand, the rest are in your sprite box. Each turn, you roll a dice and that says how many models you get from your sprite boy into your hand, then you can summon them, only restricted by your points and levels (See Points and Level Up in my first post.)

Also, I have decided to hold a tournament of M&M upon it’s completion. The Winners one to three get a cash prize (of course there will be an entry fee) and up to 22 People will each get the privilege to use a special legendary mini model in their sprite box, chosen in order of rank (So the first one in the tournament gets the best one.)

Oh yes –
Certification.
Before using a sprite box for doing M&M, the person first has to get that boy and it’s contents certified, so that nobody just makes an own model (which is allowed) and gives it ridiculously high, or – because I don’t think any Digibutterian would cheat that obviously – simply too good stats. So no a) Level Goomba with 150 KP, 15 ATK and OVER 9000 ! Defense and Supernova as a 1 FP costing attack.

So the game is like a wild mix between a children's card game (Yu-Gi-Oh! or Magic), TTYD's battle system, Common Tabletop RPGs like D&D or LotR RPG and my crazy imagination.

Well, I must say I think your idea is awesome. I think you've thought about it for some time. I'm not sure whether I'll help... but I have another possible name suggestion. It's not BETTER then yours, but perhaps if you like it...

Same thing, really.

...

So nobody has a suggestion for a rule or addition ? Or found a loophole ? Then I DARE you to make yoursepf a spritebox and introduce it here so we can see if it's too strong or not, and then I will gladly challenge you. When I made my own sprite box a bit more tidy and decided what attributes to give whom.

Special Abilities:
- Jump (Cost: 0 FP)
- Vacuum (Cost: 10 FP) Luigi pulls out the Poltergust 3000 and uses it on his opponent. Deals 10 damage and has a 25% chance of taking an item from one's opponent. 50% chance of defeating Boos and other specters in its use.
- Thunderhand (Cost: 5 FP) Luigi charges up a green sphere of electrical energy which deals 10 damage, with a 10% chance of paralization. When used against robots (and robotic creatures), it heals 10 health points.

The last picture is TOTALLY WORTH making this 'character sheet' up. XD

You're in. I'm gonna get this thread dusted off and make my own sprite box

Also you need to specify something for jump and how far Luigi flees - MAybe it'll add a +2 to his SPD for one turn ?
