Intro.

Hey everyone. I know it's been released some time ago on the VC, but I think that it deserves a review anyway. I hope this is not against the rules...

Story: 8/10

The story is that Bowser has turned Yoshi's Island into a pop-up storybook, and stolen their Super Happy Tree. A few newly hatched Yoshi's are going to try and get the Super Happy Tree back.

I find the story quite amusing and good enough for this game.

Gameplay: 8/10

Hm. There's no real 3D, so that you don't have enormous amounts of freedom, but it's very fun anyway. As Yoshi you can lick, stay in the air for a long time, sniff out coins, melons and other secrets, and even shoot eggs.

This game has very amusing gameplay, and it's very refreshing after having played many 3D games.

Graphics: 9/10

This game's graphics are pretty much perfect. Every level has a distinct style to it, and it looks as though it was made out of several materials. It looks a bit kiddie, but on purpose. It's almost flawless, but of course on the occasion the enemies or Yoshi don't look very good in combination with the background/scenery.

The graphics are, in short, very awesome and original.

Music and Sound: 8/10

The music is nice, but throughout the whole game you hear remixes of the song you hear in all levels. Not that that's a bad thing, per se. The sounds are okay too, with some better and some lesser moments.

Nintendo has never disappointed me when it comes to music.

Difficulty: Very Easy

If you are very good at games, it's likely you find yourself fighting Bowser within one or two hours. It's not ridiculously easy, though, because you'd like to find all 24 levels and get huge scores. But yeah, if you're looking for difficulty, this is not what you're looking for.

Overall Score: 8.25/10

Is it a history writing game? No. Is it a very challenging game? No. But it's a very nice game indeed, and you'll have a few hours of Yoshicious fun if you get yourself this game on the Virtual Console for 1000 points.

I remember watching my brother play this game on the N64 when I was little. Good times.

Yoshi's Story was an N64 game. Yoshi's Island was the SNES one.

I'm afraid you may have misunderstood.
This review is about Yoshi's Story for Nintendo 64.

I liked it. Wasn't Yoshi's island in SSBM based on it?

That's possible. Could you tell me why?

I liked the game but when I was younger I never understood it. I could get past the first part, but then I remember there being a large block on the path in which I had to take. There was also some bird like creature that was standing on it. I never really figured it out since then, well actually I have but I haven't played it in awhile. Also the part of the game where you can choose your levels, made me confused. I really wasn't great at figuring it out. I usually rented games back then, so I had to continue someone else's file. I should download it on the Virtual Console and try to actually beat the game.

This was the first game i got for my N64. It was great, yet a little easy. I remember meeting my one true love on that game... Black Yoshi. I remember trying to get every coin on every single level just to see if there really was a Purple Yoshi.... I never did it...

Well it's extremely easy, linear, the graphics aren't really that good, and I just don't find it fun to play.
