Everyone on Digibutter is too excited about their precious little coins that they don't spend items on coins or on chances to win more coins anymore. All they ever do to even try and make coins is make crappy Usershops with a bunch of overpriced -10 and -20 HP items and junk collectables that nobody wants. The Star Carnival gets next to no activity nowadays, and when somebody finally gets around to making a game, nobody joins.
Anytime we even attempt to have a War, all the members just forget about it and don't participate, unless it's some wimpy war where the items you use for fighting are free. Yes, I mean the September 1st war. The crappiest, most poorly thought out war in all of Digibutter history. The foreshadowing leading up to it was epic, but the war was lame. Not to mention that only a few people could see the foreshadowing in the first place.
And then there's the Werewolf/Vampire/Zombie War, where Zombies got a 100-damage reusable item for free, all the Werewolves got pwnt by 50-damage 12 coin items, the Vampires had near-infinite healing, and you couldn't get a Vampire's mouth off of you for a minute without it biting you again.
And then there's the actual items. Wolf Pendant is useless except once a month, and then you can't keep anybody alive and angry at you without dying at an extremely low cost from the assassin. Zombies are insanely unbalanced, at least Francis disabled them. Vampires continue to bite people because they feel like it, not even because they want HP anymore. You can Freeze somebody and prevent them from posting for about 5 minutes at a cost of only 10 coins, and they can't continue posting until they spend either 45 coins, 30 coins and 1 MP, or wait 5 minutes. The Fire Flower is useless except for dealing 5 damage at 1 MP cost (but we can make a User Item that does 4 damage at 1 MP cost, instead of shelling out 30 coins for this thing), and for unfreezing yourself. The Lens Of Truth's only use is seeing if two people might be alt accounts of each other, yet alts are not allowed by Francis, it costs 5 MP to use, 40 coins to buy, and it crashes the site. Fire Arrow isn't useful except for thawing yourself out, and since you have to pay 30 coins to buy a Bow to use it, and then buy the Arrow for about 15 coins, it's useless compared to just buying a Fire Flower, which is also overpriced. Ice Arrow is made obsolete by the cheaper Freezie which can be used by people without Bows. Silver Arrows are useful only 1 time a month and are insanely underpriced. The entire Bow set is completely useless except for its ridiculously overpowered and underpriced Silver Arrow.
In conclusion, I hope that my long write-up will make you people realize what is wrong with the Digibutter economy and fix it already. Don't just read this huge post and leave the thread, normal members, Moderators, and Francis. FIX IT! |

Finally, someone makes any sense from this post.
Digibutter's item system has really gone down. Frankly, I'm suprised anyone even cares about them anymore. They were more like a passing fad than a real addition in my eye...as was the little-updated arcade and the ever-dying tournaments with no real prize for the winners.
This is what I suggest: keep the current system of coins. Eliminate useless items, like the Wolf Pendant. I've never been attacked since September 1st, so obviously SOMETHING isn't working here, especially when I'm probably the easiest mod to target.
I also state that items like Freezies should be eliminated, only to become administrative items for stopping posting. Giving that power to members, only to cost so much/little/pathetically...just...no.
I suggest that we create a new "Nerr Token", much like those at Pianta Parlor. Set up a few slot machines, too. Then...we can place extremely useful, fun, and board-shaking items in the parlor exchange area. |

Excellent analysis.. but it was more about attack items rather than the economy.
Right now I see them as just a fun diversion, like a "poke" with minor side-effects. The battle system in general is not very balanced. I could attack you multiples times and kill you and you wouldn't even know you were hit until it was too late. Thats the nature of a real-time battle system on a website. Unless I move to some kind of turn-based system where you can only attack once, then your opponent gets some time to heal and attack back.
Items like Freezies are fun because they really make an impact on the victim, but its only for a short time, so no real harm is done. Just a minor annoyance if you use it on them at the right time. |
