1) Did you know...

In the Ocarina of Time theme song, you can hear part of the song of the flute from Super Mario Bros. 3, so it's like a exended version.

2) Did you know...

Metroid Prime 2 in Japan released before my 3rd cousin's birthday, so that's what she got, cause she lives in Japan. (not important)

3) Did you know...

Donkey Kong realeased on the Virtual Console three days after Myamoto's Birthday.

That concludes this time right now.
I'll have some more later.

In fact, the Ocarina of Time title screen song's first part comes directly from the original The Legend of Zelda, as it is in fact the Flute's song.

In The Legend of Zelda, the flute allowed you to summon a wind that would carry you to a dungeon you visited. In SMB3, it had similar effects (summoning a wind to bring you to the Warp Zone), and I think the use of the same song is some trivial reference.

Once I was at my friend's house, and we were playing SMB3 (On Super Mario Allstars) on her SNES, and she used the flute, and when I heard the song I immediately recognized it. And I was mad at her for using the flute...

I just want to add that the flute is also used to gain access to dungeon 7.
