Instead of returning to the Mushroom Kingdom's capital, Mario should have had to go to Dark Land. After making his way past the Koopas patrolling the road, as he made his way past several Koopa Towns (both in which, he is attacked), he finally reaches Bowser's Castle.
There, he has to fight his way up to the throne room, where Bowser sits with the final star in his claws.
"Heh... you thought you had taken them all from me? Well... You won't get this one!" Bowser would say as he stands up.
The Star is handed to a Magikoopa, either Kamek or Kammy, depending on whether you're Mario or Luigi. Then Bowser starts to fight you.
In the middle of the fight, Bowser Jr. joins his father while his brothers and sister throw bomb-ombs and fireballs at the plumber until the end, when Bowser is defeated.
After beating Bowser and Bowser Jr., the Koopalings jump out and you have to fight THEM.
After them, you get a cinematic of Mario/Luigi facing Kamek/Kammy and, at the end, taking the final star from their claws. |

Well, another idea I had was for the Star Festival area to be the other 'world map' place. It would have minigames and items for sale. :3 |
